Are we not going to acknowledge that the current Journey Into Imagination is at least better than the previous iteration from 1999? You know, the one that had zero Figment and the ride began with Eric Idle telling you that you suck at imagination?

I agree with Steve. The best thing about Maelstrom was that it was low-key. There was hardly ever a wait, so I could ride it easily. It was like the People Mover, or the boat ride in Mexico. Yes, Frozen is "better", but I almost never ride it because I'm not waiting in line, and I can't get a FastPass.

Pooh may not be considered a better ride for you, but it creates more revenue than Mr. Toad would based on merchandise, movies, and Crystal Palace. Mr. Toad also is not a world wide known IP like the princesses, fab 5, Pooh, etc. I think most children/ families would prefer "heffalumps" over Hell as you said.

I think people forget the second version of imagination. Almost the same ride as it is now but with no figment. There was such backlash against removing him they had to close the ride after being only open for a year or two and put that patched together version we have now. For those who don’t get figment, it’s because you never saw him in the attraction he was designed to be in.
@tammyeallonardo9421

Two comments: If a commentator has no idea who Figment is, why is this person giving his opinion of the attraction? Secondly, his comment about not being interested in the culture of Norway shows he also does not understand the idea behind The World Showcase.

It is so cathartic to hear you all talking about Soarin'; it felt like I was the only person who thought this. I live in So Cal, so I would go to Soarin' in California Adventure - it made sense that it was about California. I really do miss it being about California, with actual film, no crappy CGI or curved mountains or towers, not having to ask to sit in Concourse B to get decent seats, and no overwhelming smells of dirt or cloying jasmine (where's the citrus, the pine?)... that's one ride I would change back in a heartbeat if I could.

I miss the original Journey Into Imagination. However, I do think the Imagination Institute is an interesting concept, and could have been successful if they had executed it in a different way. The Dreamfinder should have become the doctor, and they should have kept it closer to the original, but with a slightly more scientific approach.

100% agree on Soarin' Over the World, especially the heavy use of CGI. The entire Taj Mahal scene looked fake. Every single thing in that scene screamed render. I didn't mind the polar bears, and the elephants were ok I guess, but if you have to render the entire scene what's the point? With the original Soarin' I felt like I was there, but with the new one I feel like I'm watching a movie. And I don't need to go all the way to Disney to watch a movie.

This is some great subject matter. I agree with Charles. The reason Epcot is my wife's and my favorite park is its uniqueness. The concept for "Frozen" is fine, but not for Epcot. MK or HS. NOT EPCOT! I just fear that the warp speed that Disney is blindly throwing IP around the parks is that it might change Epcot to just "another" Disney park. The IP is fine, just make its placement and use make sense. And, as one poster said, I disagreed with everything Sawn said, lol. No big deal, just disagreed. Yes, "Frozen" brings people to the Norway pavilion. Yes it thins the crowds at other attractions. BUT, still, you can accomplish that by making the IP and non-IP attractions pertinent to the pavilion, Land, or section of whatever area/park it's being added to.........I totally agree that Sorin' Over CA is MUCH better than Sorin' Over the World. Not because it's CA, but because the video/3D in the World version is horrid. Cheap, crappy, and distorted. I would've loved to have seen Sorin' Over America. smh........I love the Winnie the Pooh ride, but Mr. Toad was better. I agree. I would like to see BOTH attractions at Fantacyland, not one there at the expense of the other. Charles' assessment was great and I wholeheartedly agree with him........GREAT show! I really loved this episode. I look forward to the attractions that were bad a made better.

If you like soarin’ (either version) you guys should check out Wings Over Washington. It’s like soarin but 1 it’s over Washington State, 2 it’s got way better technology that makes every single seat have a good view and is completely hidden, and 3 the indoor theming is WAY better in the starting area. It’s got a loop of a totem pole with a roaring fire in front of it inside of a room with wooded benches on an observation deck (that’s the actual ride part that moves) surrounded by UV paintings that create a night sky setting and to top it off, an animatronic owl and raccoon. You guys really should check it out if you are ever in Seattle for any reason

I could talk about the Maelstrom for hours. I absolutely loved that ride and it made me incredibly sad when I learned they were replacing it with a movie that I felt was overrated.

Overrated isn't the correct term... Maybe dragged on. I didn't see the movie immediately when it came to theaters. I thought it was fabulous. The merchandise took forever to hit the stores and once it did .. it got ridiculous. I only had the chance to ride Malstrom once and i was disappointed that it closed but I get the point why Frozen was put there. The ride isn't worse. I did like the ride a lot and if the line wasnt 90 mins long even during the fire works I would have rode it a second time.

I assumed Soarin' ' was filmed with an IMAX fisheye lens which caused the warping. The Pooh ride is awesome... but then again I never went onto the toad ride.

Test Track should definitely be on this list. They really messed up one of my favorite attractions to the point that I don’t even bother waiting in the long line to ride it. Now Soarin’ (which I personally still love regardless of the updates) and Spaceship Earth are my only must do’s in EPCOT.

See I love both versions of Soarin'. I miss the California one, but it was starting to look like old VHS tape when riding it.I'll always love it though, seeing my home state so beautifully captured always made me smile! I understand the criticism of World, but honestly it doesn't bother me as much. The shot of the Matterhorn took my breath away the first time I got to ride it. I never got to ride the WDW version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but I actually didn't care for the Winnie the Pooh ride. I actually really like Disneyland's version though, even though I miss the Country Bears :)

I hardly remember Alien Encounter, but i don't think i was ever on the Stitch version. I do prefer the original Soarin. I prefer Mr Toad over Winnie the Pooh. I like Frozen, but Maelstrom was classic and had a shorter wait time. I like Figment, but we need the original version back.

Sometimes I skip ahead when he talks. It's like listening to an idiot that doesn't even care about the topic giving his opinions.

if only disney tried as hard on all their rides as they did on the frozen one then maybe they wouldn’t have to change things so often
