Cow silhouette decoy. That’s how I used to do it. You can just about walk right up to them.

Go back to that cool store and get some cheap ground blinds. Set them up at night on that farmers feild and get out there before light and be ready for a long day boys let them mag extension s get hot

cow board and you can literally walk in the ball open right to them. sometimes they'll let you get them twice in same field. if not come from all different directions and try using radios. been doing this for 20 years. a blast!

Sheels is awesome. We hit the one in salt lake every year just before our deer hunt. So many freakin birds. Clouds of geese. Awesome.

Hey guys, just got back from Florida so I missed the migration. I live in Yankton, SD. Apart from using a half zillion decoys, including hundreds of white plastic bags there is another approach. Find birds on both sides of a section line. Sneak in. Sit down. Be patient and chootem! There are roughly 40 million lesser snow geese. Mag extenders are good but pump guns? The only thing they are good for is a canoe paddle...and a poor one at that!

@mcp man.... I am curious where you get the 40 million for the lesser snow goose flock numbers. Numbers I see don't have breeding pairs at even 6 million, so those 6 million account for another 34 million birds? I am not questioning the numbers, rather asking if you can direct me to the sources of that information, ty so much.

meghan754 sorry, my bad. That's the continental duck population and it's more like 47m! I'm working on the white goose number which currently eludes me.

according to the fws 2017 waterfowl population status 7+ million. But for all white geese it actually 25 million according to the experts at DU.

Go Team Baby Bird! The snow goose population has grown 1,200% They are eating themselves out of their nesting grounds. They are talking a spring season.

If the farmer will let you, drive straight into the field at the middle of the flock, slow down as you get close and put it in neutral. Bail out Chinese firedrill style and start blasting. Just make sure you are shooting away from the car.

Want to wreck the geese? Drop a handful of layout blinds in that field and put out about 500-1000 wind sock decoys.

Try a white sheet held in front of you. Never dome it but its worth a try next time.
