Hi Kristy 👋🏻 I am learning to make more of our bread products. I'm still working with pregroud flour, and I'm excited to learn about taking the next step in making healthier food for my family.

Hi Kristy and sweet family! It talks about bread in the Bible and how it was a staple. Ezekiel bread is supposed to be a recipe from the Bible, but I’m sure you can make it cheaper than what is in the store. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I love learning about our food and how trashed the processed food is for us. Have a blessed weekend!

Yes! That was actually one of the things that convinced me to go all in on breadmaking and milling my own flour. If Jesus is the bread of life then bread can't be the enemy we have made it!

Switching to celtic salt would help those headaches, too. Celtic salts have 3 different types of magnesium that our bodies need. Magnesium is naturally a blood pressure lowering. (Not sure how to word that right). It also helps our bodies be able to absorb water.

Yes! That is such a great tip! Shifting to non-processed salt was another big change we made last year! We mostly use Redman’s from Utah but we also have Celtic and Himalayan.

@@FromtheRootsUp What is Celtic salt and where can you purchase it?
@FromtheRootsUp
@FromtheRootsUp 3 ай бұрын
@@debbiegoble786 There are three main types of real unprocessed salt: Redman’s, which is mind from an ancient ocean deposit in Utah, Pink Himalayan, which is also mined from an ancient ocean deposit, and Celtic which is harvested from the ocean by evaporation. All three of these allow the trace minerals to stay in the salt and don’t strip them out. They have slightly different flavor profiles and nutrient percentages, so it’s great to use a mix of them all. Celtic salt specifically you can get from Azure, Amazon, even some Walmart stores…if you have a health food store close or a Whole Foods I would imagine they would carry it as well. Hope that helps!

This is really interesting. I'm just at the start of my preparedness/self-reliance journey, so this is something that I'm not ready to take the home-milling plunge, but maybe in the next year or so! 😊

It took me a few years to take the plunge on this one! Slow and steady wins the race for sure. Adding one or two self-reliance habits at a time is definitely the way to go!

I have absolutely loved the Mockmill. There are so many choices, but I’m super pleased with how fast this one is and how finely it mills the grain. If you know you are going to stick with it and have the money to spend, it’s definitely worth the investment.

Nice video. Love your enthusiasm. I share it. Resumed milling about two years ago. Have two mills: Harvest/stone and Classic/impact, both by NutriMill. Great mills. You might consider Kamut berries - incredible for pasta! Agree with you about Einkorn. I’m currently working on a blend for Ezekiel Bread. Excited to try it both with yeast and our SD Starter. Looking forward to your vids on how you’re using freshly milled flour in your Bread Maker. I’ve had mixed results. lol.

If you put in 1/4 c wheat berries, does it equal 1/4 c flour?
@FromtheRootsUp
@FromtheRootsUp 3 ай бұрын
It does not. The conversion can vary slightly because the density of different types of wheat or humidity in the air causing it to pack down or fluff up more. The most reliable method of measuring is weight because that won’t change between berries and flour. However, if you aren’t concerned with super precision, generally speaking 2/3 cup of wheat berries yields about 1 cup of ground flour.
