History of gold prospecting is amazing. There are tons of places out there that have been abandoned and still have precious minerals in them. You can dig in old timers tailings and find gold. They didn't have the equipment we have now. They were smart and hit a bunch of places and knew what they were doing. Just didn't have the right tools. Also, a lot of mines were abandoned during the civil war to mine for brass and lead. Miners didn't go back. A lot of people don't realize that most of the silver mines in Nevada are actually gold mines. They kept a lot of secrets back then for a reason. If you do find it, don't tell anyone where you found it. People are greedy. I've had a guy sit on a mountain looking down waiting for me to leave. He told me he found nuggets in my hole when I left with his metal detector. I didn't have one at the time. Just had my drywasher.

I've sniped and panned up all kinds of rivers, and yes it would be considered even unthinkable to people I know, but to me it's one of the funnest things in the world so the difficult part of it means nothing to me. But yes, I do know that it's very difficult for the most part, and it's fucking great. I've seen some fools really getting it with the full on float and scuba set up, now that shit is a little too much for me. God I can't wait to get back to my favorite rivers this year it's going to be epic after this year's runoff!!!!
