I really like your videos! I'm sick and tired of 15-20 minute videos on YT where little to nothing is said, or its all hype with nothing to back it up. You pack tons of useful, thought-stimulating information into 10 minutes -- something I truly appreciate. Aside -- Nice to hear USA getting some love. I don't hear it mentioned a lot on the dividend-focused channels, but I've had it in my portfolio for many years and, overall, have been quite happy with it. I've had my eye (casually) on CSQ for a while, but now that you've posted this video, I'm going to take a more thorough look to decide if it will have a place in my portfolio. I'm a little under the weather this weekend anyway, so it'll be the perfect opportunity to dig into some research. Cheers!

Does that mean I shouldn't make a video about my morning routine, or my price targets for Tesla? Glad to hear you get value out of the videos. That's great motivation to make more of them. I like USA too, especially when its trading at a deeper discount to NAV (from a buying perspective). Best wishes for a speedy recovery back to full health :)

So true. Seems like there are at least 50 KZfaq channels (some I suspect are the same guy under different names) that have titles like "how much dividend income from a $____ sized portfolio". Yhey proceed to make their 60th video on that same topic, just running slightly different numbers into the same free online calculator.

Not surprising, another great video. This fund is very intriguing. As I'm looking to move much of my investments into income generating investment I was just thinking last night about looking for equity funds with higher yield distributions outside of covered calls. I think the S&P 500 comparison is perfect. It's pretty much everyone's benchmark when it comes to measuring investing success. When we're looking at these alternative investments, that's what I want to see. How do they compare to the market. CSQ may be the diversity I'm looking for. I wasconcerned about tax implications, but it does appear the vast majority of the income is either long-term cap. gains ro R.O.C. Lots to like about this fund.

I’ve owned CSQ for 5.5 yrs. I’ve just reinvested the dividends and have a CAGR of 14.3 %. My advice is wait for a pullback. People panicked during the pandemic and the discount shot up to 17%. I added more and it worked out great. Hope to never see that discount again, but CEFs don’t always act rationally.

What factors do you use to sell income ETFs or CEFs? Their purpose is to provide income so why sell?
@armchairincomechannel
@armchairincomechannel 4 ай бұрын
That's a great question. Generally there are 2 scenarios that cause me to sell. 1/ The price increases to the point where the yield is no longer attractive or 2/ There's a significant change to the business model or business outlook that conflicts with the original reason for buying the investment. I don't sell based on short term price fluctuations because I can't predict what the price will do.

Thanks for another great vid. at around 1:50 and just over 6mins you mention ROC and Nav erosion. I"m having some difficulty getting a handle on how much care & feeding some of these investments require for maintenance - especially CC ETSs. I understand your preference for 8% and reinvesting distributions in excess of 8% but is there generally any documentation that describes each fund's ROC. (love to know this for Max etfs) I"ve been parsing tax docs/prospectus but its unclear. Must a wait for EOY statements? THANKS!
@armchairincomechannel
@armchairincomechannel 3 ай бұрын
Good question. ROC isn't known until end of year financial statements are published. The 19-a1 notices are very rough estimates. NAV erosion is difficult to measure and varies by asset class. CEFs publish their NAV as a separate number on CEFConnect, which is handy. ETFs trade at prices almost exactly equal to their NAV. Their are many factors affecting NAV but generally, over the long term, if the NAV is flat or increasing after distributions its a great sign.

Just checked the entire dividend is ROC
@armchairincomechannel
@armchairincomechannel 4 ай бұрын
The 19-a disclosure notices are just estimates. The year end financial statements are the most accurate source of information for ROC. Some years they distribute a lot of ROC, some years none. Over the long term the value of the fund has risen so I'm OK with their ROC distribution strategy. There are many funds that distribute ROC to the point of destroying NAV. This hasn't been one of them.
