Talk To Me In Korean

Talk To Me In Korean

4 жыл бұрын

When engaging in Korean conversations, you want to show the speaker(s) that you are listening and interested in what they’re saying, right? Of course you could just say “yes”, or nod your head, but if you want to show deeper engagement and interest that may not be enough.
In today’s video, we introduce you to several useful Korean expressions to use to show your interest, excitement, surprise, agreement, disappointment and more! Many of these expressions can be used to convey different emotions using the same word, so try experimenting by using them yourself in different situations.
As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or just want to practice what you’ve learned today, please leave us a comment in the comment section below!

헐 & 대박 are all slang. 30 years ago, there were no such words in Korea and the meaning was different at that time. In the past 대박(Deabak) meant a "big pumpkin" only. But now, the words are using often as a "surprising" meaning. That's because big pumpkin meant "big present" a long long time ago~ 헐(Hull) is a new word as just interjection. There are lots of new important slang words in contemporary Korean but you cannot find in the dictionary them easily. To understand K-pop and K-drama properly, You need to know them all because the words appear so much. I think this youtube channel informs the expression of those words usefully.

@@am32074 대 is sino korean for big it also has it hanja counterpart, and 크다 is the root form for the verb for 'big' which you're asking about, 커 is the present plain form~

I remember when I was still quite a beginner in Korean and my Korean friends would think I couldn't care less about what they were telling me bc I had literally no idea how to naturally receive and react in Korean. If I had seen this video during that time, it would've helped me a lot! I think this is really good content for beginners and even more advanced people who don't have much opportunities to actually speak in Korean

I think 헐/heol is actually like, "No way!" as in "yes way!", or "No way!" as in "Absolutely not!", or "This can't be.." or "Are you serious?", or "That's shocking/amazing!" or "wow". It all depends on the situation, but to sum things up, 헐 is like a neutral shock expression (can also be positive or negative or maybe even sarcastic, depending on your tone/expression) you have before a "대박/daebak" moment, hence people often say it before and/or in conjunction with "대박".

I always wonder who are the people who dislike these kinds of videos 😂 There's nothing to even dislike,- it's a fantastic informative video. Are there really perhaps some 'haters' who are specifically waiting for a new video to be published just to dislike it? If so, please, use your time wisely and learn something instead.
