Why my Amaryllis bulb that I've been growing for years is growing smaller and the leaves drop after blooming?
If you have the above problem, and you are sure that's not because of disease or improper care, there's likely something wrong with the basal plate.
Thick basal plates interfere with root growth and will eventually cause the bulb to starve to death.
In such cases, it's necessary to trim thick basal plates.
Trimming a thick basal plate requires some skills, and the cut-off basal plate can still be useful!
By repotting the cut-off basal plate, it will propagate and produce a few bulblets.
In this video, I want to share about Amaryllis offsets division propagation and trimming thick basal plates.
Please note: Offsets division and trimming basal plate should proceed at temperatures above 20C/68F. #propagation #amaryllis #hippeastrum #plantingtips
