Dividing and potting up this monstera deliciosa houseplant took a lot longer that I anticipated, overall, I am VERY happy and I am confident that these plants will be on the road to recover quickly!

I separated mine last year and turned 2 monsteras into 6!!! A year later and they are doing AMAZING!!!

I love that plant. That is the very first plant I ever owned when my Mom let me buy one at the local KMart. Those plants always put a smile on my face. That's a beauty.

This was so helpful! I'm in a similar situation. I found a neglected monstera in the clearance section at a grocery store. It really needs some TLC and a new pot. Now I have the confidence to divide it and nurse it back to health.

I was looking for a video exactly like this for months because my monstera is in the same condition (maybe worse oops) but have had no idea how to go about it. It’s so root bound but I’ve been scared to disturb the roots lol. Some people say to be so gentle with roots but this give me more confidence to do this and split mine into 2-3 separate plants 😊 thank you for the video it was very informative!

I think it will do fine in that south facing window. I have mine also in a south facing window. I live in Memphis TN zone 7b. It gets morning and mid-day sun and partial sun all afternoon. But I do have thin, see through curtains that help block a little sun.

I thought about purchasing some really think curtains to sorta screen the direct light… right now I’m managing with the blinds but I think curtains could be the way to go

You cut a lot of new growth off. I think you should have left some of them together and repotted with well draining soil and some water. Good luck.

They did great! A couple of them went to my friends be wise they are huge plants for which I don’t have the space, I kept a cutting for myself that I rooted in water.

Your monstera looked so much better. I have one, but it doesn't look as full. I will get some of the orchid soil and some vermiculite with my regular soul. Hoping that will help it. 👍

I had one for a couple of seasons. Unfortunately it got absolutely huge and my indoor space is very limited. I divided it and gave it to friends.

10:43 the bottom leaves are not new! They are old ones. This one grew from seed and the bottom ones are the seedlings 🌱 you cut off the new leaves not the old leaves 😢 Hope they’re still doing okay, likely will if we’ll taken cared of.

Hello! They are doing well, I gave 2 of the biggest divisions away and I only kept one cutting for myself (took the cut and rooted it in water) it is now in a small container and you can actually see it in the background of one of my videos indoors. The divisions were sad for a bit but time and TLC did their thing and they flourished! Unfortunately they require a lot of space and that is why I only kept a small one.

Yes they do! I’m glad they’re doing well! I love big plants, but a friend of mine hates them. Once her plants get too bad, she takes a cutting for herself and gives it to me. Lol it’s a beautiful relationship really! 😜
