You never really own the house even after it's paid off. If you stop paying taxes, the government will take it. However , owning a vehicle that's paid off and stop paying taxes, they don't take that, you'll just pay fines. It should be the same for homes.

Depending on what state you are in once you are over 65, permanent/totally disable or blind you don't have to pay property taxes on your primary home

Never sell your home to rent another. Much less spend the proceeds on traveling. When you get back you still need a place to lay your head and you can use that asset to pull equity out. You can't pull equity out of someone else's property. Never put your fate in the hands of a landlord.

Zina you are strong! Life happens and you are acting accordingly as a MARRIED woman who was a housewife. This is true life. My parents married barely 20 and she was his rib. After almost 35 yrs they went there separate ways. He was the breadwinner but trust me a housewife is a 247 job. He didn’t want the house, he didn’t want the divorce but shhhh u get tired of being tired. My dad is AWESOME. She has her pension and still lives in the house, he has his and travels to Jamaica or Mexico 6 months out the year. They both look good and hey, it is what it is💪🏾😇📺🎉🍾

See, being a housewife does not mean you allow your husband to keep you in the dark regarding finances. Have the conversations about what is going on with the finances, how much the mortgage, taxes are on the house, bills, etc. Get some type of work experience or financial literacy classes once the kids go to school. You just never know what may happen once the kids get older or become grown. Being completely dependent on your husband is asinine.
