I’m a social worker as well and in a similar predicament. The guy I’m dating is still a father figure to a child from a previous relationship. Initially, he thought the child was his but DNA proved otherwise. Coming into the situation I accept her because that child was there before me. I’ll never tell him to abandon her because that may be the only father she knows. It’s about what’s best for the child....not yourself.

FYI her book is amazing, refreshing, insightful, and definitely worth reading because there are plenty of positive things and perspectives that could benefit everyone regardless of biases and mindsets.

Damn, I've been exactly were this dude was. In a deep relationship with a very attractive, very pretty woman, awesome person, but she had very deep insecurities. I made the mistake of trying to ease her insecurities by doing things like giving her access to my social media accounts as she requested, full access to my cell phone as she requested, spent virtually all my free time with her (it was never enough), but I didn't realize how draining and damaging that was to me and the relationship until it was too late. No matter what I did, her insecurities grew to the point I just couldn't take it anymore, and ended it. To this day, she swears I slept with a woman that I never even touched or acted inappropriate with. I hope they fixed this for good.
