I got no idea if I'm the first one to think of this. Surely someone's had to, but I just haven't come across it. At any rate, I whipped this up in an afternoon. It gets a little rough toward the last leg, but I'm not a professional music mixer, so 🤷‍♂️

@@gamerstheater1187 no he wasn't, he was massively against racial integration. both privatley and publically declaring his desire to ship the non-whites somewhere else, even to african americans. only thing that stopped him was the cost.

@@matthiuskoenig3378 No it wasn't... you're forgetting he had to pander to a white supremacist audience and during the civil war many Northerners were either ok with slavery or wanted an American Ethnostate. When he was elected he did his best to push for integration between whites and nonwhites, and in his speech after the war he stated he had plans to give black voting rights.

The history of the song Dixie is actually kinda complicated, it was originally written in 1859, and from what I know Two arms in dixie seems to be the closest to the original, union dixie seems to be an attempt to reconstruct what Unionists might have played. Fun fact Abraham Lincoln actually liked the tune of Dixie.

The one he plays in the video isn't the actual song dixie, it's a variation of the song altered to be more militarized. The original song says "Away down south in dixie" instead"To arms in dixie"

I’m same here, I don’t support confederates but I don’t think taking down the statues or the flags is good. On a more positive note, Tennessee Ernie Ford was a country and jazz singer, one of my favorites since I like old music from both of those genres!

@@Bungerbrown My point wasn't at all that "the Union was the aggressor" in the Civil War (though "can states legally secede?" _was_ an unanswered question at the time so I suppose you could argue that). I was joking about how OP said the _Union_ was "out for blood" and the Confederates were "just having a good ol' time" despite the fact that the _South_ had seceded and was fighting tooth-and-nail against an -in 1860, unfounded- fear that the Lincoln administration would interfere with slavery in the _states_ and thereby basically destroy Southern society, while the North was just "we can't let them leave" rather than anything like "they're gonna destroy our culture and incite race war (on the side of the slaves)." Apparently the joke didn't land.
