@@GSeward You might want to google what the song is about, nothing to do with the Civil War, slavery, etc. Recorded in 1982 by the country group Alabama, the words are fairly innocuous. Dixieland Delight is about a girl. I was there as well and I really don't care what Michigan people think whatsoever and neither do other Alabama fans, players, cheerleaders or band members. Thank you for your concern!

@@JJRoelant Wilbur Jackson was recruited in 1970 by Bear Bryant and played in the 1971 season. Fielding Yost, Michigan's coach with the most national titles at the school would not let a black player on the team. Granted that was year's earlier but then I looked at pictures of the Michigan football team in 1950 and 1960 and there were only 2 black players on both of those teams, in 1965 only 3. It looks like around 1967 or 1968 that Michigan started recruiting black players in earnest and not just as tokens. That is not much earlier than Alabama.

You can look at the crowd of just about any Alabama game and it's a very diverse mix of white/black. Alabama is home to part of the "Black Belt" with Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery, so the fan base of the UA reflects that.

People can play whatever they want at their home stadium. I don't care. But in Jackie Robinson's town, and where his Alma mater plays regular season football (UCLA), playing anything related to Dixie, AKA the Confederacy, is just plain wrong! I don't care if the song lyrics aren't racist, anything related to Dixieland (confederacy), doesn't belong in Pasadena. Period.
