Man I give you guys props doing this kind of work without a hoist or a shop. I'm lucky I have all the equipment I need. The perks of being a tech. Makes life easy when it comes to working on your own car. Only issue is taking the time off work. The bosses are pretty cool thou when it comes to your own cars.

Is it just an oem replacement clutch? You will need hondata if you upgrade to a stage 1 or 2 in the 9th gen si's, i believe. Could be a sensor though, jack it up and inspect it

hey bro quick question, once you put everything back, did you have to get a wheel alignment? i just swapped my oil pan and had to lower the engine subframe now i fell the car pulling a little to the right when i drive

Yes. Whenever you take you suspension components off, struts, control arms, etc, you need to get an alignment.

I drive 2009 Civic Si. Not sure what is wrong? When I drive normally (changing gears before 5k rpm) the gear shifts are smooth. But when I drive it hard for few minutes, gears won't engage. It feels like I'm changing gear without using the clutch. Clutch is not slipping CMC is ok. Do I need to change the clutch? Please let me know if I can find a good mechanic in North Pittsburgh area.
@TheGerbsteve3 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like a simple clutch pedal adjustment should fix that.

Hey Gerb, thinking of buying a 07-08 civic si with around 180k on it. Any recommendations or things to look for? Really like these cars and would love one as my dd. Had experience with cars shitting the bed only a few months after i buy them, so really want to make sure that doesnt happen.
@TheGerbsteve7 жыл бұрын
Not a bad choice! 180k is a lot, but not for a k20. These cars are proven to last a long time. I could tell you, "make sure it's not beat on," This and that.. We all know that if you buy an si used, it was most likely driven hard at one point or another. Anyways, as far as things to look for, there is probably going to be a few things. I'm not trying to make you back out from buying one, but you will most likely have to replace suspension parts, clutch, tires, motor mounts, brakes, etc. Drive it before you buy it. Make sure you get on it, through all of the gears and make sure it shifts correctly (no grinds, pop outs). I can tell you from my experience of owning an 8th gen si that the transmissions are iffy bro & so is the suspension. Amazing motor though. Hope this helps you out, you will be happy with one!
@AgentRedShirt6 жыл бұрын
Kab that’s exactly what I have. 07 si. Replaced a motor mount. But that’s normal. Suspension is good so far but might need replaced here soon. Clutch just went out. But for a 10-year-old car it’s probably one of the best I’ve owned.

@TheGerbsteve7 жыл бұрын
It was a bitch. I dropped it from underneath. Putting it back on requires two, even three people. I'm a pretty strong dude, and the tranny gave me a hard time by myself. When you go to re-bolt it, there it two alignment pins, make sure the tranny is flush with those. After that, install the bolts
