See this DIY aged stone planter pot with a Hypertufa look!
Today, I'm going to show you how to make a Hypertufa style planter pot which is the perfect decor piece for a faux, live indoor/outdoor tree or plant!
Lately, this aged stone trend is easily one of my favorites. Creating a real Hypertufa planter is definitely beautiful, but also time-consuming and takes 14 days to make. This DIY is a bit of a shortcut with the end result being a very similar style to the real thing. This project really makes a bold statement to any room and is a project that's right up my alley!
With this DIY I wanted to try a different approach that wouldn't take as long, but still provides the same look and feel, but in less time!

I’ve done this same technique only instead of a ceramic pot I used a bucked like the one you’re mixing in. I just cut a thing around the top so that it didn’t have rim and looked the exact same shape at the pit used here. It came out looking very similar a cost far less. I do however appreciate the moss tip and will try to use it next time I make one. Great video!:-)

Looks beautiful! We had went camping recently and I grabbed some moss while we were out, originally going to use to put moss on the two big rocks I got from the same area last year, but I might use it to do this to one of my planters like yours. Love this! When using the pot outdoors, will weather fluctuations cause the mortar to crack or breakaway from the original smooth surface of the planter?

Mine has always been inside, but I am honestly not too sure! I can see how big weather variations could cause that, but I've never experienced it personally!

Of course, you can! :) Whatever works best for you. I find the look is a little different on plastic planters because many of them don't have the thickness of a ceramic or other heavier type material. But you may love it. Thanks for watching!

Ale- it doesn't have to be the mortar she showed. ANY mortar that is used for tile will work. Germany will have their own :)
