I just spent 3 hours shopping for plastic drawer organizers at...OMG...ELEVEN STORES. I hated everything I found but I still bought stuff because how ELSE am I going to organize my makeup?! Came home, searched YT to see what everyone ELSE uses, found THIS amazing tutorial and could kick myself for not doing that FIRST! LOL! I'm returning all the crap I bought and INSTEAD buying some foam board...I've got everything else! Thank you for this tutorial!!!

KTK too It's such a pain trying to find ones to fit just the way you want them hu?!?! I'm so glad that these work for you and they are going to help!!! Plus all those organizers are expensive if you have to buy more than just a few!! :)

Thanks for the video. I made them for all my Alex drawers. I added washi tape to the top edges to keep them clean and add some decoration. I love how organized my drawers are now.

I love this idea! I have been thinking about reorganizing my alex drawers so this may be the solution. I have had several desk organizers/bins for years and they're driving me nuts! I need a change with my makeup storage. Thanks for sharing!

***** Oh thanks! It can be such a pain to reaorganize because then nothing seems to fit the way you want it to right?!?!? It can get so frustrting sometimes!

This is a neat DIY! When I get the time to do this, i'll take note of the board height of the edge pieces. Height of divider + thickness of the base should be enough for the height of the edge pieces. :)

Very neat and controlled. I was thinking to do the ‘criss cross’ style but hot glue seems to be more sturdy and I really like your approach. You’d think with Ikea be popular someone would make organisers to fit, but I can’t find any all these years later..

What knife did you use? I used a regular box cut but I just couldnt get the lines to cut as clean as yours

+Katie Goodwin I just used a regular Exacto Knife. The sharper the blade is the better! I've found that if my blade is dull it kind of rips the foam board. Or it could be that the box cutter blade is thicker than the Exacto blade and so it doesn't cut as cleanly.

How did you decorate your drawer? Did you paint it?

Sabrina Denise It's actually vinyl! I deseigned it and cut it out mself but a lot of the time you can find vinyl flourishes like tis at walmart or target or you can have someone custom cut some for you :)

How big is your foamboard ?

Hello, do you know if the inside of these drawers are the same as the measurements on the Alex table with two smaller drawer units on each side ?

ChloeTarati I think that they are both the same width but from what I have read, the Alex drawers that come with the Linnmon table/desk are longer when you pull them out. If that is what you have you could just measure them really quick. The inside of my Alex drawers are: Side to side-11.5 Front to back- 16.75 My guess is that your front to back will be more than 16.75 but the 11.5 will probably be the same :) So you could just add a few inches to the length of the organizer when you are cutting the pieces! Hopefully that was helpful! Let me kow if there's anything else I can help you with :) Janna

You can get them in the sewing section of any craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, and can even find them at walmart :)

***** It didn't take too long. Maybe like 20 or 45 min. depending on how many cmpartments each one had :) But I like doing crafty projects so it was fun for me :)

I got confused a little on the measuring part. But once I figure it out, oh boy sky is the limit. Not only I use this for my Alex drawers. I also made more for my kitchen drawers and all others drawers around the house. Now everything in my house fit perfectly lol. However, you must invest in a good quality exacto knife otherwise it will turn out ugly lol.
