Man , now I am going to have to find some of these Infant rockers to make into props...and join my collection of random odds and ends of motors , servos and junk! Great tutorial and I have never even seen one of these until things until now!

Oh man, I really love the simplicity of this one. I can't help but imagine my clumsy ass forgetting it's not a real table and leaning on it. lol I found a couple of these rockers for under $100, and I bet if I keep looking I can find one that's even cheaper. Creating a prop like this for under $150 is going to be so fun.

You should make a levitating chair to go with this! It would be so cool!!!
@kensmith5694
@kensmith5694 11 ай бұрын
Yes, so long as the chair is light enough, a "rod" that is behind it from the viewer's perspective could lift it. The baby swing thing likely doesn't have enough power so I would give it its own device. The trick would be that the "rod" is really 3 rods. Each rod will have its own hinges on both ends and be arranged in a triangle. Just a bit of geometry can have the chair go nearly straight up without tilting.

Me again 🙂I finally made one of these today, and it was a lot easier than I anticipated. I only ran into a couple issues not directly related to your instructions (my bucket had a lip around the edge & center, so I had to use longer screws than what was called for; it also made it impossible to center the plywood since I couldn't see the center at all. I also had to re-cut the plywood base since the baby swing I bought apparently has a wider footprint than the one you used & the first one was too narrow. Had to add an inch making it 19 x 20). All in all I am thrilled with the results, and with how quickly it all went together. Thanks for sharing the great tutorial! PS, I tagged you on Insta if you're interested in seeing it.

I watched this video at least 4 times... this prop is fantastic, I like the way you look at something built for one purpose and instantly think "I want to build a haunted house prop with it!" You're my kind of guy! Presently a prop like this wouldn't fit in my haunt's graveyard theme, as I have mentioned, It is a one-car garage, so I can't accommodate much... maybe one year I'll put the graveyard outside and change the interior to be like a haunted house inside the garage... not sure... maybe one year. P.S. I think the skull is animated by a black string that goes through the book, and table to the floor with a weight... I look forward to see how you rigged it, I'm always learning so much from you! P.S.#2 My spooky sign is completed, very much inspired by your tutorial... I made it slightly smaller and changed the linkage to the motor to operate the eyes directly without a need for a spring or counterweight... I plan to make a video of it, I am thinking of making a behind the scenes of my haunt, I'm not planning on making a how-to DIY, that takes too long to produce! But I would like permission to link and possibly include a few video snippets of your video in mine if any of my 12 viewers are interested LOL, maybe we can collaborate on that a bit later... I'll be in touch through your channel's email soon.

Hi Ray, always nice to hear from you. I will be coming out with a "How-To" for the skull prop in a week or so and then a "Animated Ghost Bride" video after that. I would enjoy seeing your projects and if you credit me you may use some short snippets of the "Spooky Sign" video.

You can attach the jigsaw directly to your stick and use it as a circle jig. No need to follow the line manually to make the circle.

Thanks BScatterplot for the suggestion. Not all viewers have this tool accessory, those that do can apply it. Additionally, it shows the viewers how to draw a perfect circle that can be used in other circumstances. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment.

@@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Oh of course, I didn't mean you needed the special jigsaw accessory. I just meant you could actually just tape the jigsaw to the paint stick (or use a couple screws). I know there are dedicated tools for it too if you have that. Thanks for the video, I love the idea.

You are so clever! If I saw this infant rocker my first thought would’ve been, who would pay that much for that?? That being said these are all over FBMP, I was able to secure a working rocker for less than 50$ and in my neighborhood, score! Hey I can use the bag of 1000 chair leg rubber caps (bats tutorial) to give the table legs a finished look 😂

You crack me up Dana, however why didn't I think of using the rubber caps to finish off the legs?! Actually, I had originally wanted to give the table leg ends a "claw foot" ... but ended up simplifying the build. Glad you scored an infant seat, yep they are out there and for a good price. Thanks for the fun comment!

Hi K Y Joe. It takes a good month for each video when you add up pre-production, production and post-production work. I can save some time when I use the same set for more than one prop and film them simultaneously. Thanks for asking and for watching.

This is awesome, I want to do kind of an man eating plant room in my haunt this year and the Home Depot has been sold out of the man eating plant animatronic, I was wondering if you had any ideas of how to make something like it
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms 2 жыл бұрын
Hi fish Boy, thanks for asking. Since I have not seen Home Depot prop that you mentioned, I am not sure what your goal is. However, take a look my Animated Skull Prop that is a companion prop to the levitating table, perhaps that idea could be modified. Using green colored foam craft sheets glued to the skull in a fashion that looks like an oversized carnivores plant, might be one way to achieve the look that you want.

Thanks Laura for watching and commenting. As I mentioned in the video, it is really hard to duplicate the movements that this particular infant swing provides. Hearing from others, they are finding these swings in their area used and for a fraction of the cost. Good luck with the hunt, I hope that you find one.

Does it have to be the touch screen one? I so so so want to make this and I found some that have a turn knob that are more affordable.

Hi Amanda, yes the models that I used do have the touchscreen. I am not familliar with those with the turn knob, but as long as the mechanism works the same they should work just fine. Thanks for asking.

OK THIS PROJECT: if you decide to build this, save yourself money and hours and forget about the PVC table legs because they make very little difference in the end product. This is my first-hand experience.

I'd like to know where the heck you found the 5/16" - 18 x 1/2" bolts!!! I've looked everywhere.
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms Жыл бұрын
Hi Spooked, sorry for your frustration. I purchased the bolts that I used at a larger Ace Hardware that had a wide varity of bolt types and sizes in open bins. These are the type that you purchase individually and are not pre-packaged. The pre-packaged type have a limited array of sizes. I also took one of the angled top plates with me into the hardware store to test the bolts before purchasing. An alternitive to the angled plates and bolts, would be to screw the PVC end caps directly onto the underside of the plywood round. Evenly place the four around the perimeter of the round and slightly angle them outward. Use a short wood screw that does not come through the otherside of the plywood. You might also need to predrill the PVC end caps. The angled plates and bolts are not necessary, but they do make the attachment of the PVC endcaps, with a uniform outward angle, a whole lot easier. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching and I am glad that you reached out and asked.

Curious is it possible to add the floating tea kettle prop to this?
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms
@HALLOWEENHOWTObySaulFilms 2 жыл бұрын
Good question Joshua. Everything for the 'Levitating Tea Pot' would need to be attached to the underside of the table top, so they all moved in unison. Additionally you only have the room between the table top and the swing base to fit everything. You would also need to make sure not to exceed the weight limit for the infant swing in order to avoid the swing's auto turnoff. Also the water reservoir could not be filled too full, to avoid the water spilling over with the motion of the swing. Off-hand those would be some of my concerns.

Sounds like a good idea, nothing is certain until an actual physical mock-up ... that is where problems (and their solutions) pop up. Let me know how it comes out, but do be careful working with water and electrical motors in the same area!

Got the fan for free on my local Buy Nothing group🎉🎉 The only thing left is the table leg hardware but unfortunately I can’t find it at any of our local hardware stores. Gonna check Amazon.
