After painting half my basement I read that you shouldn't paint cement walls or cinder block in a basement because the paint causes mold. Not sure if true but I've read from several different

I’ve read that too but honestly I think it depends on where you live. I haven’t had any issues and our walls were already painted when we bought the house 5 years ago

Depends on the paint. A whitewash or limewash should be fine because they are suited for porous surfaces and allow moisture to travel through the brick/cement instead of it being trapped.

Painted basement walls with oil base paint. No mold for 10yrs.

I would use a spray for those walls.

In part 3 where I painted the walls I show in the beginning all the materials. It was a lot thicker than this but the drylok paint makes it look smaller than what it is :)
