DIY: BMW E39 Engine Oil Pan Gasket Replacement (6-cylinder).

Hello everyone!
In this super hot video I am replacing the oil pan gasket, oil dipstick tube o-ring, oil level sensor seal gasket and both tie rod boots on my 2003 BMW 530i with a M54 engine (L6). This is a step by step guide with very good visual of the job. Hopefully It might be helpful to anyone trying to complete this kind of BMW´s engineering nightmare. LOL!

thank you for this video, i have an e39 with a M52b20, i try to do all the maintenance by myself, my oil pan is leaking and i was about to call it quits and go to a mechanic, but seeing your video gave me all the info i need to do the job on my own, thank you very much

Another awesome video. Thanks. Unless I plan on spending 5 days under my car, I'll probably pay to have this one done. But your video sure shows me what whoever does it has to go through. My E28 gasket was a lot easier to change. Cheers.

Wow, nicely done. That's a lot bigger job than it was on my old E28's. My E39 sure needs a new oil pan gasket but that looks like more work than I want to deal with. The amount of work tells me that a shop would charge $800 plus for that job. Maybe that's low. Thanks for doing the video. Cheers.

Yeah, this procedure is a little pain in the ass! I ask for price in a local shop before doing this job, and I’m still waiting for an answer…LOL Thanks for your comment! Cheers.

@@TheultimateDIYmachine I guess I was about 1/2 way there with my estimate. LOL! RepairPal shows the repair costing between $1,600 and $2,000 in my area. Yikes! That's probably more than 1/2 of the car's total value today. If there was an insurance company making the decision on the repair, the car would be totaled due to a leaking gasket. Isn't that something. I think my E28 oil pan gasket took me less than 2 hours. At the prices mentioned above, I guess the repair "books" at well over 10 hours labor. I believe it. Cheers.

Thanks for the info, that’s crazy, but I’m not surprised anymore, since the dealership wanted to charge me $500 for a new inside rear view mirror, last month. Finally I got a $20 used one at eBay, ok without auto dimming system, but you know what I mean…

10:20 M8 8.8 grade bolts have a torque spec of 24Nm according to BMW manual. Great video and very easy to follow with all the steps, but sadly I did not think enough and followed with the 45Nm torque, leading to a failure of the aluminium thread in my oil pan (which I repaired with an helicoil).

Bro i watched almost all of your videos and i subscribe your Chanel because i have 1997 bmw e39. Now adays my car has a problem it strugle when i want to start the car for few seconds its cranking and then start lik for 3 to 5 seconds and its hurt me. Frome Afghanistan
