Something to note for future reference: Vitamin Oil is not a preservative. It will not prevent mold, yeast and other bacteria. It is an antioxidant, which means it will prevent the oils for going rancid and it is added after whipping (cool down phase) along with the essential oils because they are heat sensitive.
@gamegang6275

Thanks your comment was very helpful. What would you recommend to prevent those things?
@allieharmon3926
@allieharmon3926 2 жыл бұрын
@@gamegang6275 u only need to worry about mold, yeast and what not if u use water in your solution (but if u do look up natural preservatives, i use germall plus). If ur body butter is completely oils then all u need is Vitamin E.

Shea butter isn't a little bit thicker than coconut oil, it's A LOT thicker. The reason yours is so soft, and white is because it is refined. Unrefined Shea butter (usually ivory or yellow in color) is very hard and usually needs to melted over a double boiler then refrigerated before it can be whipped up.

I use unrefined and just mash it with a fork and add in the other oils before I whip it. It still gets fluffy just takes longer.

I found some 100% pure unrefined shea butter at tj max and it is in fact yellow in color. I'm melting the shea butter with a double boiler method right now. Im putting into a Mason jar (disinfected) since the plastic tub they came in would warm with the heat.

Just made this with my granddaughter. We double the batch so she could take some home. It turned out great so we are making one more batch. The fist batch we scented with Rose Oil. The second I’m doubling as well then dividing and doing half with lavender and the other half with the Panaway essential oil from Young Living that I use for pain in my legs. It can be my carrier oil and give me all the benefit of the moisturizers. Love it.

Vitamin E is a thick and viscous oil that is super easy to mix into lotions, liquid oils, and even bath bombs for its skin-loving properties. It is a wonderful anti-oxidant, but it isn’t considered a preservative because it has noantimicrobial properties to it. Many home crafters use it thinking it will preserve their products, but all it can do is extend the life of the oils in your product (similarly to ROE and GSE).

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I made some for my expecting sister and a girlfriend. Their bellies looked great during their pregnancies and after. They want me to make more and so do their Moms :-) Everyone in my family with dry skin and eczema are excited to use this. I am now looking for a version with out nut oils since my new born niece who has eczema and is allergic to all nuts. The version I make for her will be truly special.

I would never use essential oils for a baby with eczema. Unlike what she said in the video, essential oils are not calming for the skin, essential oils of any kind can be highly allergenic. Ask any dermatologist, they are the most common cause of new allergies. No dyes, inks, perfumes or such.

Oh my goodness is there anything you can’t make? I watched all of your Fairy videos and now I’m going to start watching the rest of them. I’m definitely going to make this Body Butter, I’m going to triple the recipe and use my KitchenAid stand mixer. I know several people who would definitely benefit from it. My Son also has Eczema he’s has something to do with his RA. (rheumatoid arthritis) He’ll have to apply it himself, being that he is 32 years old. 😂🤣😂 Seriously, l’ve literally spent hundreds of dollars buying him every single moisturizer on the market. But, l’ve never tried making my own. Thank you so very much. ♥️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Just FYI... I make my own body butter ALWAYS. I do not let it get as firm as you do. I set it in the refrigerator JUST UNTIL it gets a nice ring around the outside and the inaide is cool, but not hard. I use my Kitchen Aide to whip it! It is the most velvety, fluffy butter ever! I put it in small Kerr jars and place all but one in the refrigerator. I keep one in my bathroom and I've never had a problem with it melting, even with hot showering. Just be sure to NEVER get water in it. When my jar is empty, I take out another one from the fridge.

I love this one. I made it twice already but I also add pure cocoa butter (hard texture melted with the shea butter and coconut oil) and it smells delicious! I am confused a bit by this recipe because there was mentioning measurement cup of 1/2 cup but I didn't see it used for anything. Am I missing something? What was the 1/2 cup for? It was 1/4 coconut oil and 1/4 shea butter so what's the half cup for? Anyone?
