The butterfly pattern is so pretty, it’s really soft, which is what makes it slide when you sew it But I was excited about how it turned out. This is the first one I have ever made... to bad my ferrets won’t lay in it 😂

I am not exactly sure how long the elastic was. I didn’t cut it until after I feed it through and pulled it tight to the size I liked. I think it was around 12” but I’m honestly not 💯 sure. I am making some more this weekend. I will get the exact measurement and let you know.

I made mine using an about a 1/2 yard of fleece. If you didn’t need it to be bigger around/longer you would just need to make it deep/wide enough to hold a cat. I would probably double the width if I was going to use it for my cat, which means you would probably be safe getting a yard of fleece and cutting it 55” long x 24” wide. Most fleece opens to be 59-60” wide x however many yards you buy) if you wanted the scraf to hang lower as well as be deeper, you would have to sew two pieces together to get the length you want or if you didn’t want piece it together you could by multiple yards to get the length you want. Joann’s will cut fabric as small as 1/4 of a yard so you could get it cut almost to the exact length you need and then cut it as wide as you need to make the pocket deep enough fit your baby. I hope that made sense, I tried to not over explain, but over explaining is a defect of mine 🤦‍♀️

I have an elderly girl rat who has the hind leg disorder where her back legs drag, who had to be moved to a one level cage by herself because she was tumbling off the shelves. She's also developed dysphagia and is on a baby food diet (she's had 2 recent choking accidents and I don't want a third 😢). So, she can't live with her friends because she would probably try to eat their food. Anyway, she loves snuggle time with me, but all I have are pieces of fleece to carry her around in. It would be great to have a bonding scarf. I had one years ago but it seems to have gone missing. I just ordered one from Etsy but I'd love to order an extra from you! I'm not fussy, I just want to let her have whatever time she has left, feeling warm and loved ❤️.

You may be able to use a hair band or hair ties, tied together. You could take elastic out of an old pair of sweatpants or something like that. If I come up with any other ideas, I’ll let you know! You can also get elastic really cheap at Walmart in the craft isle.

You could possibly also use ribbon, cord, even long shoelace and thread it through, then tie a bow on the ends when you have it at a length you like (similar to a drawstring idea). It wouldn't be stretchy like it is with the elastic, but it should still be nice and secure for your animal
