Brenton, I was a young man and in training down at the CIA ‘Farm’ when I was first diagnosed with cancer. It was shocking to hear a doctor say stage 4 and that there was no treatment protocol. I didn’t understand because I felt like my life had just begun. 13 years later I was rocked again when the doc said ‘lung cancer,’ but that time, with more confidence, I believed my journey was not yet finished. God gives us these challenges to prepare us for the road ahead, to draw us closer to him so that we find peace, and the strength to overcome the obstacles which lay ahead. Fight through the misery, let this time define the best of you, and focus on where you will go from here. God bless you and your family during these trying times. I pray that you will look back at this many times in the future and find faith and trust that things will be ok.
