DIY CAMPERVAN WINDOW BUG SCREENS // VAN LIFE

Ariane came up with this idea to try and keep the bugs out of the Van by making Bug Screens for the windows. So we watched a few KZfaq videos and worked together on a #DIY #CAMPERVAN project. This is a great project for two people if you want it done in a day. HA! We made this video before we traveled to the Southwest. Our CamperVan Window Screens did very well and held up the entire month out in the desert. For people living the #VANLIFE this is the way to go.

I would really recommend the stuff they sell as pet screen which tends to be a plastic, fiberglass even when new can shed fiberglass bits so if you're really sensitive to it or you have to store them somewhere near any kind of fabric or personal items it really pays to have anything other than fiberglass

Thank you for this video! My girlfriend and I full time in a van and have screens inside, but they were looking pretty haggard. I modified your idea a little by using duct tape with little magnets on the inside, and so far it looks SO much better.

They’re still holding up good. The snaps are starting to rust a little. But all in all still working.

Slightly off topic, but I'm having trouble figuring this one out : if camping in a modern SUV, how to put the windows up and down overnight without having to access the dash? I sure do miss cranks!!

In our last SUV we just kept them open 3/4 of the way. No matter what the weather was. Even in cold weather. We like the airflow.

Audio is mono only.

I was using a GoPro which has terrible audio. Didn't realize it until people started saying Mono. So we have since bought a Cannon D60. Appreciate the feedback. Trying to do better. But, the screens are still holding up nicely.

You can copy the mono audio into the other channel when editing. It's not "true stereo" but it's better than nothing. It's really distracting only hearing sound in one ear.

Great idea... but how do you close off the bottom (by handle and lock)?

We glued a strip of Velcro above the window handle. Get the “extra strength” Velcro. If you put a snap lower, it actually pulls the bottom part tight against the door. Thanks for watching.
