Ingenuity for saving dollars. I have a rusty rocker ford that I want to split 6 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe and spray with bed liner.

I did this years ago on a 1989 aerostar. Considering for a Chevy venture and came across your video. Looks like you improved on the process I used. I am considering using E6000 adhesive to help hold them on.

It looks like you just have 4 fasteners (sheet metal screws, two at each door) holding the gutter on? And then just let the rest 'hang.' Is this strong enough to resist wind/snow/ice? Also, looks like you just let the original rocker rust, did you spray anything on it to slow down the rust? What happened to the original repair (foam), did you tear that out?

You are correct, it was fastened with 4 sheet metal screws on each side. been over two years since I put them on and still no issues. A lot of the bracing comes from the doors being closed over the top of the skirt, that has held them on quite firmly. I did not remove the foam before mounting the skirt, I just sprayed the rocker panels with rust inhibiting paint and covered them up.

You mentioned that this was PVC? Wouldn’t it have been better if you use the aluminum. And cut your rust spot out so that it wouldn’t get worse

I like PVC better. Aluminum is flimsy. It warps and dents easily. I put the PVC skirt on years ago and it looks as good as it did on day one.
