What are y’all gonna put in your locket? I say lupine seeds. 😀 Scatter them then refill each time you are leaving the cottage. Think of Hannah when they bloom in medians across America!

Most of the time I don't like when people paint over wood but this house has so much wood it is nice to see a different color than just the same brown wood. As you said it does make the room brighter and more alive.

@@heatherchannelgetoutsideI agree, so many of the younger ladies on here, seem to think, if they get half naked, more people will watch.. I personally don't like it, I don't follow her for that, Hannah is, such beautiful person inside and out, I've enjoyed watching her grow, as a person, she truly touches lives, in a positive way... I feel a little weird at 56, following such a young gal, but she touched me when I was battling Cancer and very sick, her spirit of adventure, got me through some tough times...

For future projects. If you are trying to paint wood with a very absorbent open grain. Buy some cheap wood glue and water it down, quite a bit actually. Like 4-1 or more. Then spray it onto wood and let it dry. The watery glue will soak into the wood and when it dries it will seal the grain and prevent the paint from soaking in. Its basically the same as primer, just much cheaper.
@MonicaMolinar
@MonicaMolinar 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing that tip! Probably, there is plenty of primer around here, but that’s for my husband’s projects. I’ve got some scrap wood that I want to turn into something useful, and this will help me make the project even better than I thought that it would be. Much appreciated! Cheers, Monica

The glue trick also works as a waterproofing layer for MDF and other types of fiberboard to reduce the likelihood of it swelling and cracking if exposed to standing water. Your results will vary but a coat of watered down wood glue will help waterproof most materials to some degree and is almost always a good first step before painting, especially with absorbent materials that drink up coat after coat of paint. Not a good idea if you intend to varnish or stain because it will discolor the result, but for paint its always a good idea. Not sure what else I can add to this discussion so I hope this helps.@OfficiaIhannahleduggan-

Yup I wasn't sure I wanted that wood painted but now I can see how brighter the room is😊. Very nice Hannah! I kind of like that you've left the wall wood where the couch is. Nice contrast...but I haven't finished watching the rest of your video. Love the progress. Also nice you have a sister to call and do projects with or just visit. I had 4 sisters who have all passed away.😢. Enjoy each other!

I think painting here was a great decision. I love natural wood tones and think it's wise to explore keeping as much natural wood before painting, because it's so hard to reverse the paint and get the wood grain back. BUT this is a case where it was very smartly done. There appeared to be water damage in places and like you said, it brightened the space! Great work! Love to see it!!!

Hannah, I think the wood looks good painted! I totally agree with you when you said it brightened up the room so much and yes it still has the warm and inviting look and feel to it. You've done an excellent job fixing up your home and I'm loving it myself!

I love how the down stairs room turned out. I am probably one of the weird ones that actually like how the white paint with what is left of the natural wood and the natural wood trim is turning out. You just keep changing your place as you see fit for they are your places. Besides who says that in years down the road that you won't change your mind on how you want things to look and change things up again. To me that is the fun of home ownership. Thank you Hannah for sharing this video with us. I hope that you and the mice are having a good one. Have fun take care
