Just found your beautiful vases. Thanks so much for sharing. I have done some decoupage on wooden items before, but I am very excited to try using a glass vase. Regards to you from South Africa

Oh thank you, Georgie. Yes, by all means, try clear glass. There are a few quicker ways to do them than my technique, but I have always had a successful result, and no problems afterwards, so long as you seal them with a good varnish. Best wishes.

Oh, my goodness this was an exciting video, your vases are gorgeous. I've been searching through my art books for images as I was listening. From your first video a few weeks ago I did buy a vase at the thrift store, it is glass but is not clear, has a decoration on it so I guess that would do for the inside and I would just decorate the outside? Can't wait for your next video when you share more techniques and strategies. There is an art store in my home city that I know sell beautiful rice paper. Sorry for the late reply, my tablet which I usually watch on is toast and I just turned on my computer. Hugs, Diane

I was hoping you'd see that I posted this as you were one of the people who requested it. You don't HAVE to use rice paper, but I found it to be the most pliable for sculpting around odd shapes, as vases tend to be. I thought I would leave a week between postings so that anyone who wants to get ready with a vase and a stand has time to do that. I'll try to upload on Sunday or Monday the Part 2. Glad you liked the 3 other vases I showed. Hugs back.

Hello Diane. I have found the most beautiful vintage renaissance ladies portraits on the internet if that interests you. Various artists including Leonardo da Vinci. I also have some vases from a thrift store. I’m excited to begin. Regards to you from South Africa

Yay!! Thank you so much for this video!! I've been looking forward to this! Oh my goodness! That 2nd vase is my favorite!! I absolutely love the interior of it too! I'd love one that looks like that on the outside too! Wow I'm so inspired! Where can I find beautiful Japanese rice paper? And the wood block print? I'm not familiar with this at all. I've never decoupaged but I want to. I've been trying to find pretty napkins but not having much luck. I saw some on Amazon but they are pretty expensive and they come in packs of 50-100.

I’ve got a few from various Etsy stores. Just do a search.

Thank you Elissa for your beautiful comment. I'm so pleased you like my art. I get my Japanese rice papers from my local art store but there are also many online stores that carry them. Just search on "Japanese rice paper" and you'll come up with a selection. If you have a local art supply store, they might carry some as well. I had to do a search for the wood block prints and unfortunately I do not recall where I found them but the artist's name is Torii Kotondo. Most wood block prints or paintings of ladies do not meet my criteria so I was willing to pay $35 each for these two. Expensive, I know, but they were duplicated as fine art prints, so one must pay the price of an actual print. First determine the height of your vase you want to make before selecting the images because you want them to be the right scale (around 70-75% of the height, depending on whether you have a border top and bottom, then 70-75% of the height between the borders). I hope this helps.

Very sorry but I can’t remember. Think I bought them from someone on Etsy or a gallery online. I think it is Tatsumi Shimura.

Love your work! Where do you suggest to get the fine art paper?
@MissDarlingArts
@MissDarlingArts 8 ай бұрын
That would depend on the type of image you seek. I looked everywhere, including books, magazines, inexpensive art reproductions. New or used is ok, so long as the size is right and it’s good quality reproduction.

Miss Darling… I have tried to find the Minwax polycrylic clear gloss but to no avail! Amazon has it for over $46 for half a pint! Other than modpodge do you have any other recommendations? Thank you!

Oh wow! Yeah, be careful of Amazon. Many listings are from 3rd parties who gouge. One clue is over pricing, but also slow shipping, which means they are vendors who do not carry the product in stock but have to go buy it in order to upcharge it to you. You can find Minwax at Home Depot and probably at Lowes or most large home improvement stores. Let me know if you find success as it has been a long time since I bought mine. But I did get it from Home Depot.
