Welcome or welcome back to my channel ! This is Part 1 of my DIY Closet Transformation only using bookshelves from Target ! Closet systems are extremely expensive and if you're looking to do an affordable alternative, this video is for you ! This is my biggest DIY project so far and I LOVE how it turned it out ! Aesthetically -pleasing and organized closet. If I can make a suggestion, you could fold your long dresses on a hanger and store them in the bookshelf system. If you're concerned about having hangers that clash with the others, you can easily find clear plastic ones with a lower bar.

Yes!!! The prices I’ve been quoted were outrageous! It’s definitely a process doing it yourself, but I love how it’s coming together so far!

Suggestion, separate the two cabinets, leaving empty space in between, get another rod from Home Depot, and connect between the two cabinets that will allow you to hang your dresses. 😊

You could put a smaller rod in between the bookshelves and hang the dresses. Take them off the wire rack. It doesn’t flow

I haven’t been able to find a rod that small , I ended up just pushing them all together so there wasn’t any gaps

To me it would have made more sense to drill a round hole (you would get a round bit) in the bookcases and run a longer hanging pole through. This would allow for long hanging and be more stable too.

Yes! Then you could just get a really thick dowel rod and be done.

⁠@@evemariiee This pertains to a set of bookcases standing against one wall. When you go to Home Depot/Lowes etc, ask them for a round drillbit and a wood or metal rod. Have them cut the rod to size. Find out where you want your rod (make sure all is level) and drill the holes in each side of the bookcases (carefully, cover with painters tape first before drilling because particleboard). Then insert the dowel through all of the bookcases on that wall. Hope this helps.

Did you buy extra shelves for the shoe cabinet? I’m wanting to put in shoe storage, but I’m trying to figure out how to integrate with my existing double hanging rods. You’ve done a great job making plain bookshelves work for you!

Nope! I used the extra shelves from the bookcases each came with three adjustable shelves!

Also the molding is another reason why it's not going to go flat to the wall

You need to secure the cabinets to the wall or they're going to fall over, and the rack that you left up is the reason why the cabinets are coming from the wall.

I think this is what I'm gonna do 😂 & the area where you are gonna do activewear, I'm gonna leave my husband's clothes 😂 I definitely need a better way to organize my clothes and my shoes. It's been a disaster and I've been struggling for weeks on what to do so I have shoes in the middle of my closet right now 😂

It's nice but the wire rack for your maxi dress makes it look weird. It doesn't flow right. Wouldn't a taller shelf that could accommodate your maxi dresses look better?

I originally planned on taking out all of the wire racks but I ended up keeping that one as is! I actually love the look of it 🥰
