Hi Guys!! Welcome back to my channel & being part of the familia!
In this video.. My boyfriend and I create a concrete coffee table! I've been seeing these a lot recently on my instagram feed and feel in love with the aesthetics of it all. Of course because of the design and material they don't come cheap for retail but we managed to make this one for a little over $200! I wont lie it wasn’t t the easiest project but to make it much smoother and enjoyable, we already made those mistakes for you hehe Just follow the tools list and instructions and you should be just fine!
Supply Tool List:
-Paper to cover floor if doing project indoors
-2x2 lumber sticks ( Go to Lowes they cut to project! Just maybe do it in parts so you don’t overwhelm them and get a rejection for your cut request)
PS. They are called 2x2s but that's not the exact measurement keep that in mind! I know RUDE
-Plywood (same here)
-Sand Mix Cement ( Don't use wall float!)
-Drill
-Drill Bits (Creating the hole for the screw avoids splitting of wood)
-Sand Paper
-Bucket
-Mixing Tool (Power mixer to attach to drill makes the best pancake consistency!)
-Concrete Trowel
-Water seal
-Brush for water seal
-#9 3" Wood screws (don't use any bigger for the 2x2!)
-Concrete Adhesive
Instructions:
-Get lumber and plywood cut to measurements
-Build boxes by connecting your 2x2 lumber
-Create holes for the screws on the lumber (saves lives!)
-Cover boxes with the plywood
-Add adhesive for better results ( let dry)
-Mix sand mix concrete as smooth as possible, no rocks, pancake consistency!!!!
- Cover each side with cement 3/4 of thickness if possible (the thicker the less likely it will crack) PS. its ok if its falling over the edges you need it to go all the way around, just clean up quickly after so the cement doesn't stick to the ground as it drys! PSS. REMEMBER to use the trowel at an angle and do it softly to ensure smooth table top
- Waiting game, let fully dry concrete takes sometime to set in.
-Sand any unwanted texture
-Add water seal
-Enjoy!!!!
Measurements :
Top Tier- 47" W X 32" D X 12" H
Bottom Tier- 32" W X 24" D
-When building your "boxes" please don't forget to account for the actual lumber measurements!
-Don't forget to add the support beams in your calculations when buying lumber!

I’ve watched so many tutorials on YT on how to make a concrete covered table. My hubby and I used a LAMINATE FB Marketplace table top. We soon learned that the concrete doesn’t stick to laminate. It was cracking & wouldnt stay on the edges of the table. Thank god I watched your video. I removed the laminate, sanded, primed, sanded again, and then used the same method with the concrete adhesive. The concrete is drying so much better than the first time. Can’t wait to seal it & be done! Thanks!!!!

Do you ever worry about it tipping over? I want to make one but I’m afraid it might fall if I put too much on it or someone sits on it

If you give it time to fully dry and add all the proper support beams you should be totally fine! Although, it being a DIY i dint think ill ever stop worrying especially if someone sits on it lol

this looks AMAZING - i know this might be a lot, but do you have the measurements fo each cut of plywood/lumbar?
@lilibritosa

Hi love! Unfortunately I don't but i did put the boxes overall measurements on the description. I would just account for the width of the lumber when you're preparing to cut! 💖

Hey! do you think it would work if I covered an old coffee table in the concrete? I am a little worried it won't stick but I think it may look great!

Hi babe! I think thats really smart and could save you so much time! I would say, it just depends on the material. If its anything with gloss i would sand it down so the concrete has a more rough and flat surface to stick to? Not entirely sure, but at least thats my thought process lol let me know how it goes! XO

@@lilibritosa gotcha! Smart, I’ll definitely sand! It’s kind of that fake ikea wood. It has a slight shine but not too much so I’ll prob sand it down just to be sure before! Thank you for such a great idea!

To be honest it is chipping a bit but its been about a year so if you're interested in a short term piece its definitely worth it!

What was the concrete adhesive you used?
@lilibritosa
@lilibritosa 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it was "quickcrete" sand concrete ! the wall float was our first attempt that didnt work out.😌

Hello! So far so good, thank goodness! We haven't moved it since we delivered it so thats been great, but we definitely are having lunch on it and using for its purpose and all is well!

Looks good however, it was unnecessary to put concrete on the bottom of the table, it added time to the build, it can damage your floor and it adds unwanted weight. Looks great though 👌

I definitely agree with this, while I was making it i was most concerned about it blending all around but in the end my floors are more important lol thanks for you comment!

You have to predrill the holes so the wood doesn't split.
@lilibritosa
@lilibritosa 3 жыл бұрын
We definitely had to do this after we picked up the new screws. I was nervous it would still split so we drilled the holes first, thanks so much!

It is! Even though its not solid the the coating was pretty thick and its definitely on the heavier side, at least for me lol

Your wood is splitting because you’re not Pre drilling your holes first before adding screws.
