DIY Crappie Jig (ON THE CHEAP) Mold Your OWN

With crappie season just around the corner I wanted to post a quick little video showing how I mold my own jigs. I know that there are numerous ways of doing this however this is how I have been molding jigs for a long time and by my estimation it has saved me hundreds of dollars through the years. If you like to fish brush piles, rocks, or have kids who like to hang up and break off this might help you out. Hopefully you enjoyed this video as much as I enjoyed making it. Just came across your video. On the tangled hooks, I know of no way except what you did, however, separating some, however many your going to pour, prior to start pouring makes it a lot easier.

Any thoughts on using wheel weight for a jig mold?

I have used wheel weights before many times. They do take some work ahead of time to clean the lead and remove contaminants and debris. They do throw good jigs once you do the cleaning.

@@Jake1896s you mean off the break dust and grease? Wanting to try pouring some jigs myself, newbie.

@@music2178 yeah road contaminants and the steel clips that hold them on the wheel. It’s really easy to do just take your time and skim the floating debris off of the molten lead.
