DIY Cricut Easy Faux Leather Wallet & Kam Snaps Tutorial

In this Cricut crafting video tutorial, I'll show you how to make these easy no sew card wallets using faux leather, heat transfer (iron on) vinyl and a Cricut! I'll also show you how easy it is to set the Kam Snaps on these little mini card wallets.
I love using faux leather and heat transfer vinyl to make personalized gifts like these easy faux leather wallets with my Cricut. These coin wallets are so easy to make with a Cricut Maker, Maker 3, Explore Air 2 or Explore 3. You can also make them with any cutting machine that cuts heat transfer or iron on vinyl.

I made one of these and put the snaps on today. I wanted to flatten the sides and flap, so I tried putting it in my heat press (off, of course!) it worked great except for one small thing. The snap bulged out the leather on the back! Not a problem though, because I discovered it was a great holder for my license and cards that I usually have loose in this bag that won’t fit my wallet! I will be making more, but I will do the flattening BEFORE I add the snaps!

Thank you. It's good to see you discovered the benefits of kam snap. I have one I use in real leather projects and I'm glad I got it. It works well for thin leather that is like faux leather. And that site you use for faux leather is really cool. I might use them for making doll items as well as continue to use my real leather. The faux will come in handy with prototypes, and when I want to do prints.

Hi, thanks for your comment! I'm not sure if regular snaps could go through three layers of faux leather, so that's why I recommend these extra long snaps. :)

Would a scoring stylus help with score lines or would it not work?

Hi, thanks for your question! Do you mean on faux leather? I don't think that would work because it could scratch the front side of the faux leather. I think gently folding the faux leather folds over something like a ruler could work, though.

Hi, Amy! I clicked on your materials link to get more information on the faux leather you used, but can't find any dimensions for thickness. I've never heard of the "paper thin" and was wondering if supplies I already have may be adequate. Thank you!

Hi, Maria! I cut faux leather every day and I rarely have trouble with the faux leather being too thick, so it's not something I worry about. The Faux Leather (Paper Thin) setting has a misleading name in my opinion! It makes it should like the faux leather must be very thin to cut, and that's not the case. The faux leather I use most, from the link I shared in this video, cuts beautifully with a Cricut using my suggested cut settings. I hope that helps!
