I've been getting tons of requests for a detailed curtain bang tutorial for the holidays so here it is! I know a lot of us are cutting our own hair at home these days because of the lockdowns, and pandemic so I thought, why not show you how to cut your curtain bangs step by step. This is how I use to cut curtain bangs for a lot of my clients when I was working in the salon and it's a fool proof way to get the perfect curtain bang every time!

Tried it myself and love the results! I’d say personally to go a few inches longer than the chin so you can still tuck behind ears/keep it in a ponytail if you want and to give yourself room for any mistakes with the feathering, but overall this was surprisingly easy to follow!

This is literally the best tutorial ever- I'd never cut my own hair before and spontaneously decided to cut my own bangs. She explained it perfectly!! I was so nervous but it worked really well!! This is your sign!! Do it!!

I did it guys!!!!! It looks so good I love it. Make sure you take your time and use good scissors. When I did the first straight cut I cut my hair a bit lower than my chin bc it’ll give you room for mistake so it’s not too short. The most important part for me was blending it at the end with the longer sections of my hair it makes such a big difference. Also my hair was somewhat styled (smooth blow out hairstyle) before I started which really helped me see what it would actually look like. Just trust the process lol I was stressed until the very end and sleeked my hair into a pony tail bc I didn’t think it looked that good and then after a while I took it out and fixed my parting and it looked so much better once all my hair was blended all together (if that makes any sense?)

I’ve been coming back to this video for a year and a half each time my curtain bangs need a trim. I know the steps by now, but the ease at which you take us through them gives me that extra boost of confidence I need! I still get nervous! Lol 💕

She explained everything so well . I've never cut my own bangs ever but it turned out so easy and it looks great which I was not expecting honestly. I did cut a little longer than chin length just to be safe and then cut little by little until I thought it was good.

This was a super easy tutorial to follow. I have never cut my hair before and still was able to do this easily. I actually cut mine a bit shorter since my hair is quite a bit shorter than hers, it’s a little past my shoulders, so I cut my hair level with my top lip. The tutorial still worked the same and looks great! Really happy I didn’t have to go out and spend money to get my bangs cut and now I can trim them at home!

Someone else just said that they style their bangs and it looks good as long as she Styles her hair. Do you also find you must blow it out in order for it to look good or can you wear this look in different ways and it still flows well?

Draw your eyebrows and see where the arch is, just draw your brows as natural as possible while having an arch, not a huge arch but enough to see it and then when you’re done just take off the brow pen stuff (I forgot what it was called😅)

I used this tutorial back in February (during lockdown ofc) and I’m here again now they’ve grown out a bit. I love how it looks at the video is really to the point so I can kind of do it with the video as it plays, thank you ! :) Edit: July 2022: I’m back again!! Edit: it’s aug 2023 and im doing it in the hostel toilet in Vietnam 😭

These aren’t curtain bangs. If you ask for curtain bangs, they will be shorter.

@Reeann Barnes I do this on my clients all the time. It’s literally just a long soft face framing bang that falls below your cheekbones. Make sure you tell her to disconnect it from your front angle, so it is more of a bang. I do currently have curtain bangs on myself and they are a way shorter style.

Followed your tutorial and my bangs came out so well. The feathering technique was very helpful. I chickened out a bit and cut them longer than I wanted but I might trim them shorter soon and add some layers into the fronts of my hair. Thank you so much 🥺💜

I’ve been cutting my husbands hair since the beginning of quarantine. 2.5 years later, I still cut his hair, my dads and my 2 year old sons hair…. Quite well I might add. I never learned how to do my own. This video is fool proof. My hair looks incredible! Happy mama! ❤

Wow! You are not only a professional but a gifted teacher. I have NEVER seen a video for cutting, styling, blending, etc one's own hair so clearly! Don’t want to judge anybody, but so many hairdressers don’t know how to cut this kind of bangs. I went to a hairdresser with a strong idea of what I want and around ten photo references. I paid 35£ and She made me an awful bangs. I haven’t noticed anything at first because she curled it to the sides, but when I came home and washed my hair in the evening - I saw the disaster. I’ve had to take the scissors and make it look more decent and even I with no experience did it better. I’ve been upset for a whole week and then I decided to follow your instructions- and now I have beautiful curtain bangs that I love!! And they’re so easy to style!!! So thank you for this!!

make sure your hair is not too wet. It should be almost dry :)

Duuuude. I want that flat iron. I never used blow dryers often before my dyson but dyson made one that resolved all of my issues with blow dryers and I can see that the flat iron has solved all of my issues with flat irons. Dyson has read my dreams and made them come true.

i wish i would have watched this before trying to cut my bangs 🙂 cause i used a little bit of hair and cut wayyy too short, so now i got two little stubs of hair on the side of my face that I can't even put behind my ears 🙂

OMG thank you for the tutorial I did it! I had bangs but like full eyebrow length bangs and they grew out cuz of quarantine and they kinda already had a “curtain bang outline” and it was rlly easy but when they grow out again I’ll definitely make sure to follow this tutorial again ❤️

I would say the only part that messed me up was how far up I went. I feel like I should’ve done half of what I did. It’s not terrible and I can still work with it but I recommend doing less hair than you think you want, and if you want more bang then add more hair. You can always add but not take away
