Hello, in todays video I do a step by step on how to change your CVT transmission fluid on a 10th gen Honda civic. This will be a full DIY with all the steps to flush the old fluid and put in the new factory fluid. This vehicle has the 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine. The total process took about 1 hour and a half. In the video I lay out all the tools that will be used to change the fluid and how to. This how to video will help you understand how to change the fluid and keep up with your 10th gen Honda civic. Having good fluid will allow your car to last much longer and get better gas mileage. The more strain on the transmission hinders your fuel economy.
Thank you for checking out the video and I hope it helps with your car.

Great video, I took mine to the dealer and found the fill plug laying in the engine compartment after I got it back from them. I'm going to have to see how badly they messed it up...never again :(

Geez that is very unfortunate when you go to the shop you expect the professional to do it properly and that happens! That is another reason why I like to whatever I can myself as I have that same problems like that in the past. I hope everything works out and the transmission is okay! Thank you for the comment

Thanks for that! My dealer charges €200 for CVT fluid change, I think that's ok, considering how much work it is to do. Plus I don't even own a garage or a place were it's legal to do a oil change. But great video

Thanks for the informative video. Can we just use the check bolt to fill it back up?
@sleekauto6008
@sleekauto6008 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is another way to fill up, makes it easier if you have a little hose that can fit on a funnel.

@@sleekauto6008 : I wasn’t sure, but it worked out just fine using the full plug hole to fill - did it couple of days ago. We do need small enough hose to insert it in and deep funnel.

Do you check oil levels via check bold when engine is hot or cold or warm? Read CVT oil expands 10% when hot.

Quick question? When you are about to add the final quart of the trans fluid what should you be looking for when paying attention to the check bolt? Should the fluid start leaking from the bolt and your good or how can you tell your good to go?
@sleekauto6008
@sleekauto6008 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, when add the last quart keep an eye on the check bolt. Once the trans is full the excess will leak out so it doesn't over fill. So once you see fluid leaking that's when you have successfully filled the trans fluid.

@sleekauto6008

Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate it, The crush washer for the CVT Transmission check bolt is a 18 mm crush washer. That is what I received from the dealer when buying fluids.

Hii i need your help, my 2016 Civic 1.5 cvt has problem on the ctv transmission, i have other transmission from a 2017 civic 2.0 naturally aspirated, they have the same CVT transmission?
@sleekauto6008
@sleekauto6008 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, I don't want to give wrong information. If I were you I would call Hondas service center and ask about the specification of both transmission and see if they are the same specs. I would think they would but you never know if there is a slight tweak in the design preventing a smooth fitment.

I try not to push more then 30 to 40 thousand miles before changing. If you wanted to really be on top of it, ever 20 thousand change the fluid.

4.8L came out of the CVT drain plug, what next? Does CVT transmission oil expand in volume if it is old and dirty? My 2017 civic now has 190K km on it, and bought it used with 30K km on the odometer. First CVT oil swap I'm doing and think I may had my car slanted forward as when I drained the oil, 4.8 litres came out. Manual says to drain and refil with 3.5L. Can I just drain and fill the same amount which came out? Now I only have 4 litres to refil the car with. Do I simply use the 4 litre and add 0.8L of the old oil I've taken out? I don't know if the old dirty oil expands in volume. And I'm hesitant to use the check bolt if indeed the CVT volume expands or the car is not leveled properly. What do you think? Cheers, Rev
@Falcon5ive
@Falcon5ive Жыл бұрын
That is not a flush, that's just a fluid change. In flush you you run your engine to swap out ALL of the CVT fluid with new one. The drain method only lets out 25-30%, if you drop the pan then 50-60%, flush swaps out 100% fluid. Other than that, nicely explained.
