but it’s much better to have contact on the surface of the cymbal than at the edges or the confer hole. contact at the hole/edge is much more likely to lead to cracking which can break ur cymbal which is much worse. but with all of these just make sure it’s not causing damage.

Mihai Drums yes indeed! I play the evolution hhx series except the ride , I use the same ride used in this video the hhx groove ride and I love it so much! Highly recommended for a bright ride sound with great crash ability, the crash on it is actually better than most regular crash cymbals, it could actually be my all time favorite cymbal .

I grabbed a pair of Jeff Porcaro signature Regal Tip sticks per the advice of some random forum when I was looking up how to get less stick sound from my hats when recording. I was kind of shocked at how good these sticks rebound and their distinct sound they get on impact..I kind of thought sticks couldn't make that much a difference but these sticks themselves get q very different tone when you tap them together than any other sticks, the wood is very hard and has a nice finish and to my surprise they indeed made my hi hats sound much better in recordings. I recently ordered another signature series from Regal Tips to compare but the Jeff Porcaros are currently my favorite sticks OAT.

obviously taping works on rides and hi-hats too people, used to do that to my ride when i played live at small venues, to control the sustain and volume. For ease of removal, put a crease in the middle of the piece of tape, like "_|_" so it pulls right off.

I like your hacks lol. It's as if you made this video just for me. Long story short I have a drumset that is missing the felts and needed a quick fix. Plus I was curious to how to give my cymbals a more sizzle sound. For when I record them. Funny tho that you used your keys as I've seen my uncle do this trick before. Real talented drummer lol. So I'm always looking for ways to compliment his playing.

You're always going to get noise just by moving them. Make sure the bottom hat is tilted and that your clutch isn't set too high. Too much distance between them can cause resonance. They, as the dude above suggests, could be dented and uneven.

I have a hack for you - DO NOT STICK TAPE ON YOUR CYMBALS. Those instruments, the proper ones, are not inexpensive!! If you are considering using tape on your cymbals you just bought the wrong cymbals. Sell them, and better luck when you get back to the music store next time. For those of you who disagree, why not skip the piece of tape altogether and drop a nice glob of epoxy on your cymbal? Better??
@christopherlockwood9321
@christopherlockwood9321 4 жыл бұрын
Wow why so triggered over a piece of tape? It’s a big piece of metal I’m sure a small strip of painters tape isn’t going to hurt it.
@dwaynerobertson383
@dwaynerobertson383 4 жыл бұрын
@@christopherlockwood9321 I don't like to foul woods and metals with unnatural materials. Pretty much that simple. Cymbals are full of grooves, and tape gum/glue is not a part of the alloy. It's a foreign material, and it has to get trapped in those grooves. Yes, you can clean it, but why? It's just a personal thing, I guess. I never have, nor will, use tape on my cymbals. It's gotta' be a bitch to clean off, and it's a contaminate. If I had to mute a cymbal I'd take a piece/strip of very fine cloth, punch a hole in it to fit over the cymbal stand threaded rod, and drape it over the cymbal. You can mute them without using sticky gums and glues. Not to mention that beautiful cymbals look like shit with pieces of tape stuck on them. Polished, shining, shimmering cymbals look and sound beautiful. Putting tape on them is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
