Have you ever run out of dishwasher pods and don’t want to go to the store? I have a solution... baking soda, dishwashing liquid, and white vinegar. This concoction makes the best alternative to a pod. You gotta try it!

Put the vinegar in your Finish Rinse Aid compartment and you can put a Tbsp in the bottom of your dishwasher instead of in the detergent compartment. It'll save you the spillage and do the same job. :)

@@jmx1270 Yep. Baking soda and vinegar neutralize each other and provide no benefit. Thanks much for your time. I'll try this. I did do just that. I couldn't really believe it...the dishes were just as clean as with the pods. I poured in about a good tablespoon of baking soda inside the compartment...then added about 10 drops of natural dish soap/unscented....then poured about 2 tablespoons of vinegar in with it. Prior to filling the compartment, I would add about a teaspoon of the soda and vinegar with 3 drops of soap with pre-wash. *Caution: Be careful with the soap. To much and it'll create excess foam thus starving the pump inside of water making it more susceptible to burn out. **Another tip. Run the hot water from your faucet first before starting the washer.

Here's a better recipe.... Mix 1-1/2 cups of citric acid with 1/2 cup baking soda. Add 1-1/2 cups of washing soda (found in the cleaning supply isle of grocery store) and add 1/2 cup of large grain salt (like kosher). Mix it up good, and use one tablespoon per load for...... *DISHWASHER SOAP!* That reaction coupled with the large grains of salt acts as little scrubbing pads. Cleans dirty dishes better than ANYTHING you can buy. Including 'Cascade Plus'. *You're welcome!* 😉

I read on a site called mommypotamus that mixing citric acid with washing or baking soda will cancel out the sodas' cleaning power because of the acidic nature of citric acid. Her formula was just washing soda for detergent and vinegar or citric acid for rinse aid. Any thoughts?
@geewiz8253
@geewiz8253 Жыл бұрын
@@Zashmirnot sure if this is true or not. If it were true then I don’t know how some plant based soap stores/brands are lucratively selling their laundry soaps that have some of the main base ingredients as washing soda, citric acid. This company called buffcitysoap that I know uses washing soda, citric acid, coconut soap, that they make, and fragrance as a base for their main laundry detergent. It seems to work well to me, but again, don’t know how well it’s actually cleaning (didn’t test it in a lab), but smells good… I used it for a while. Anybody know any thoughts about washing soda and citric acid as well? Is the above blog she mentioned saying the truth or not? I’d like to know as well.
