DIY Electric Piano - Test Assembly with Fender Rhodes Spare Parts - Episode 3

3 жыл бұрынIn this series I am trying to create an electric piano that is cheap and easy to make. In this part I create a one key piano with parts from a Fender Rhodes piano and the parts we have created so far..
I try to explain how parts of the piano work, though let me know if I am wrong. Also if you have any ideas.
The sound difference between this one key piano and a fender Rhodes will be partly due to the difference in impedance. As this is not a full piano the impedance will not be matched to the amp. I also was playing with the tuning spring... so they are no longer the same note.

This is literally the content I've been looking for ever since my fascination and addiction to the Fender Rhodes started. Always wanted to try making my own EP out of love and dedication, but I could never find any videos of people making DIY EPs. This is exactly what I wanted to find. Your content is very much enjoyable, well edited, and you got yourself a new sub!

Very similar key/hammer setup that I've wanted to use for a DIY stringed electric piano. I pictured the hammer being contacted by the key at it's other end, directly under the hammer tip, however.

Interesting idea, I am thinking of future projects after this, and a clavinet with the setup you talk about would be interesting to try.

I am very intrigued, i would love to make my own but i don't think i have the technical knowhow or materials needed. It's really great to see someone actually try and make one and document it

@@deancoyle I think I might try and build a clavinet kind of instrument instead, I just have to figure out the key mechanism. I've been thinking about using kalimba rods as tines too, I have tried it and they sound rhodes like through a guitar pickup but there would have to be a mechanism that plucks them since you can't hammer them like a tine or string

Not sure you can play a song with just one note, unless your name is Hainbach or John Cage! In Cage's case, you don't even need one note!
