These faux enamel dots can be made as you need them from project scraps, they are easy and practically free since you make them from leftovers. I hope you like this less-toxic alternative to melting beads and the less expensive option to buying the pricey scrapbook ones and this way you get a perfect match every time!
You will need:
scrapbook paper scraps
clear embossing powder (UTEE)
a stick with a glue dot on it
a heat gun (stamper's heat tool)

I think you are the original "smart and frugal" crafter because you don't buy all this stuff that I bought and now have room full of stuff that does not give me the satisfaction that crafting used to give me when I was poor and had to make everything or make do with what I had on hand. THANK YOU!!

Lindsay, you are such an inspiration. I have been making mine out of melted pony beads but you are limited to the same size and limited colors. When I first saw you doing this I thought, oh heck no, too time consuming. But you can just sit with paper and punches in front of the TV and work away. They are really pretty too. With the extra coating of Utee it really makes them shine and gives them added dimension so they wont smash down. I really thought I had seen about all of your videos but I keep finding new ones. You are one of my favorite artist to watch and learn from. Big Hugs!!!

What a great idea. I watched A LOT of videos on melting the beads and everyone was saying different temps, pans, etc., but all cautioned about the fumes. I don't need fumes in my home with a very allergic husband and my own sensativity to fragrance. Love that your method has no fumes, or very little anyway, and the dots end up exactly matching your project. Yea! Thanks also for the tip to use glycerin for clear embossing!

For now this is best way of using some of my stash in different ways. Plus, I don’t want the fumes. Thanks for the tips. Always a pleasure learning from the tutorial.

I just ran across this and had to try it right away! I used a chopstick as my pick up tool. I had the same experience as mentioned in the comments of the glue dot melting. I tried Ranger's Sticky embossing powder but had the same problem. I will be picking up some poster putty at some point for sure as this is such a great idea!
