Learn how to make your own fuel injector tester to identify faulty, leaking, or clogged injector nozzles for around $25 if you have the tools/equipment to put everything together. DIY fuel injector tester. You can also use what's shown in the video to clean fuel injectors, and if measured amounts of cleaner are used in the cylinder, along with a stop watch, you can compare the flow rates of each one of the fuel injectors from the engine. Apply power to the injector and start the count, then once air starts shooting out of the injector, you stop the count. Repeat the process for each injector. If one injector takes much longer to spray out the measured amount of cleaner/fuel, then you'll know the flow rate is less.

I built one similar. Only thing I added was an inline filter. Hate to have a chunk of rust or something end up in a nice clean injector.

Loved your video, especially the pressure tank, I build one very similar a couple years ago using an aerosol can, But yours simulates rail pressure. Only thing I do differently after checking for flow, is mount the injector backwards to clean, there’s usually a tiny cone filter on the inlet side, That way it back flushes any dirt out, rather than trying to force it thru, Then turn it to normal position to check spray pattern. Thanks again great video. ( now on to try n build a PWM )

I love this video👌 it will be nice to see the fuel spray comes out with a high speed Camera where we can see the actual spray pattern in more details. Hope to see you making use of High speed Cameras in the Future . High speed Cameras are Amazing ..👍 thanks for sharing 😊

Glad you enjoyed the video! Unfortunately I don't have enough Patreon supporters to help fund a high speed camera. Many people ask for free help repairing things(to save them money), I help them, then they disappear without being kind enough to return the favor by making a small donation to support my work. People throw away so much money, so a lousy $2/month donation is nothing. Not the way I was brought up. Very sad. In the future when I upload videos, which will always be free, I may only assist viewers that are Patreon supporters.

Nice. One thing to try is to lightly tap on injector head while motor is running. Very often they stick. This will allow injector to spray. We cured a lot of older cars with dead cylinder that way. Also soak them in Techtron or Sea foam etc for a day then install. Clogged tips are usually cleared out.. Diesel wear out tops but low pressure gas injectors rarely wear out . I have 300k on GM originals .

Checked all the switches. It is a D.C. Not an ac. I did replace the stator and I accidentally bought an ac stator(if there even is a difference). Does it matter what kind of stator I put on. Both are 8 pole and same wires come out as the old one that is broken.

Or a simpler way is to use a pump sprayer and connect it to the fuel injector using a properly sized clear tubing with a clamp. Then get a 12 volt connection to the injector. Ect.

The propane container you use, was it rated for the amount of psi you used? I want to something similar if I can.

Yes, that cylinder is designed for pressures up to 200PSI.

any particular reason why you limited to 50Psi? I know my fuel system in my truck runs around 90 Psi..... how fast can you cycle these with PWM?
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 6 жыл бұрын
n3qxc Most vehicles are in the 40-50psi range. No reason why you can't pressurize to 90psi if needed. The 3/8" ID braided vinyl hose can handle the pressure. Typical fuel injector pulses are in the millisecond range. You can find calculators online. Thanks for watching!

Wonder if water hammer principle would be something to look into.... really enjoyed the video. Now, if it's a Datsun....ya need 5 to 9 volts unless you like burning coils...some other cars may be the same way. If an injector was particularly dirty, or leaking, using 12v for long enough to clean it could cause damage if ran at too high a voltage.
@electronicsNmore

electronicsNmore, Google 280z dropping resistor... It may just be a rare thing, but it's always prudent to check the fsm for proper injector voltage... Really like the propane tank, btw. Very slick. May could fashion an air bubble to do batch fire while injectors are still on the rail... Great concept!

great video, great idea. two questions: 1.how to see if solenoid is working properly and how to fix it? 2.plus and minus connector has a specific position or can be random? stay safe and thank you EDIT: do you have a video with reverse process of cleaning? im aksing this because i use Delphi long 501z injectors and could be interesting to see how does it would work for you.
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 жыл бұрын
If you hear a click when power is applied, the solenoid works. You can't fix a faulty solenoid because the entire injector is sealed up in plastic. The injector works the same if polarity is reversed, but to be safe, connect + & - where they're supposed to go. Would the build have not been simpler to have added a copper feed tube to the top nut instead of a valve so the fluid could be drawn up from the bottom of the tank , then simply drilled the tank and placed the rubber valve in at the top . With a length of tube you could then drop the injector into a container to catch the fluid being injected instead of having it spraying all over the room .
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 6 жыл бұрын
FAST FIX No, the design is fine. If you want to catch what sprays out, then slide a clear vinyl tube over the end of the injector and place the tube in a jar.
