In this video I’m making gear bags to put in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe Overland conversion. I wanted specific bags to haul my stuff and not lose it.
Links to all the materials I’m using are listed in the description. For the body of the bag I’m using 1000 Denier Cordura. This piece is cut to 13 inches by 18 ½ inches. It'll make a bag about 8 inches long by 5 ½ inches wide and 3 and a little bit inches tall. I’ll leave a link to an online calculator that will show you the dimensions you need.
I also have a scrap that I cut to 2 inches wide this needs to be at least 4 inches long. This is a #5 Zipper and slider the way I’m building this requires a slider that is removable. I’m using double sided basting tape. They heat bond basting tape does not work with cordura so If you can’t find it, You’ll need to use something like this Fabri tac glue. You’ll need a way to cut like scissors or a rotary cutter, But for one part of the process, I like to use a razor knife. I also recommend sewing clips or some other way to clamp the pisces together other than pins. And obviously you’ll need a sewing machine, thread and a way to make marks on the project.
Optional parts are velcro if you want to add patches and if you want a handle, I’m using nylon webbing. And the best way to cut webbing that I have found is a hot knife. This one comes from Harbor Freight.
