I’m looking at buying a Gen 1 with 261,000 miles. This will be the first maintenance item I do. I had an ‘05, and never changed the oil. I didn’t think I needed to. Had to replace the tranny at around 125,000. New sub. 👍🏼

Congrats on the second one! Thanks for subscribing! Easy preventative maintenance goes a long long way on these cars. Imho this is the last generation of simple Toyotas that don’t have a ton of electronics to complicate things. Hope the videos help.

Solid video, Dude. gotta do this soon. I was told (by my JDM specialist guy) to replace manual transaxle fluid every 30K, so that's what I do on my xB & my son's Civic Si. I use Amsoil for both and use the holes you show in this video. I haven't used the bags though. I have a long funnel that has a large fill reservoir that I can block the flow, hold the end of the hose in the fill hole, then open the flow.

Hi, I'm stumped here. I thought the clutch was fed from a hose going to the master cylinder. Therefore it's actually brake fluid. Watched many videos and the Scion website. Please get back.

You are correct. Clutch fluid itself is brake fluid and is for the clutch itself Gear oil / transmission fluid for the manual transmission lubricates the moving components of the transmission Hope that makes sense. That’s the best of how I can think of putting it in words

This is perfect, Just bought an '04 manual toaster, when I asked about the transmission fluid the previous owners had said if wasn't done during regular maintenance it had never been done, so i'm thinking it needs done soon.... question: how tall are those race ramps?

Glad you enjoyed the diy! How many miles are on your xb? The race ramps are about 6” tall. Plenty enough to slide underneath without having to use jackstands. These come in handy for quick easy maintenance imho.

@@M2Motoring 140k, it runs well but I am thinking of doing some maintenance to it. According to the records 90 k was the last time it was in for routine service, any recommendations as to the things I should be thinking about?

Definitely all fluids, oil, trans, coolant. Would check the condition of the radiator cap and hoses as well make sure they’re good. If the spark plugs haven’t been done you can do that as well. Aside from that I think you should be good. This car is super simple to work on. We are approaching summer and some preventative maintenance is always cheap insurance 👍🏻

What year is your xB and does it burn oil and how often? Also, no transmission fluid came out of the fill hole, the spec is 2 quarts?

Hi my xb is an 06 with 195k miles . Mine burns about 1/2-1 quart every 5 k miles. And yes spec for fluid is 2 quarts

You can but I filled it via fluid capacity method.

Hi I have had zero issues with noise. I would recommend changing the fluid if you haven’t done it yet
