Just did my G19. Came out perfect. I not only undercut the trigger guard, but also the bottom of the trigger guard for my weak hand index finger My advice FWIW, go slow. Not just for the obvious reasons, but the polymer WILL get hot. Give it a chance to cool down occasionally before proceeding with your work. And it will be a black dusty mess. Took me an hour. But it's perfect. Will smooth out tomorrow with 800-1500 grit sandpaper.

I wouldn't go so thin with the actual guard myself ( I know that you fit it to your finger, still I'd take more off the grip side than the trigger side) but you did an excellent job of showing the work.

Great video. I'm just surprised that after all these years, Glock has not fixed the in the factory and we have to do this mod. I just got finished with my brand new g23 gen5 and it feels so much better. ( even if I just dropped the "resale" value) While a Sig p320 grip feels better from the factory. I want a grip module with a P320 exterior and a Glock interior.

Great video! You said give you ideas for videos, well I have one for you. I have a Glock 17 gen 3 that I want to carry, I also have small hands so I don't need all that grip. I would like to take off enough so it will take 19 mags. Thank you for the videos.

I'm glad you post videos on how to fix problems with the glock trigger guard. Others post videos on reconfiguring the backstrap too. I keep asking myself "why do people buy Glocks if they have to modify them for comfort and grip fit?" My point is this: I own Glocks (now only one) and I hate them until they are modified. I own S&W M&P's and the only mod I do is an Apex trigger. The grip, trigger guard fit perfectly in my hands on the M&P. The fluted slide on an M&P is sexy and they have a low bore axis as well as an 18 degree 1911 grip angle. So why do people buy Glocks? I wanted a 10mm for my woods/bear gun (I live in Alaska) and my options were limited so a G20 it was. I couldn't believe how ugly the gun was after all these years. Still the same blocky look and crappy trigger guard and grip as was my service weapon was 20 years ago which was a Glock 21. I digress. I am just irritated that I spend $650 for a G20 than have to take a grinder and sand paper too it to make it somewhat acceptable to shoot. Not to mention having to spend another $90 on metal sites since they come with those crappy polymer sights. Someone please explain to me why a Glock is so popular and so good??

Just because you think Glocks are ugly & require modifications dosent mean everyone does. Over the last 30 years, Ive owned 3. The only thing any of them could use is trigger work. But that's been so with all guns since the early 1980's.

@@porkchopspapi5757 exactly! Im not a glock fan, but many people are. For me, the gun doesn't fit my hand properly as other manufacturers do like S&W M&P's . Just know that Glock is not the best handgun ever made, there are better ones made that are more comfortable to shoot out there. Keep an open mind.

My Dremel is 30 years old, 15,000 and 30,000 RPM. The sanding drums are also larger diameter than yours. Even if they weren’t and I had your rig, I don’t want to take a chance on destroying the frame. I think I’m just going to use a dowel wrapped in different grits of paper, then smooth it out with hi grit micro mesh cloth. It will take longer, but I honestly think it will do a better job. Thanks for the review, you did a great job, but I think I’ll do it the old fashioned way.

Seems a bunch of whiny haters have commented that you went too thin with this. I would just say everyone should take a moment to look up pics from professional stippling/glock modifying services results and see that going this thin is very common. I myself have done 4 Glocks and two of them were this thin. It is amazing how much strength there is. It literally doesn't even flex. These guys have no clue what they are talking about. It isn't too thin at all.

i usually just straighten out the bottom of the trigger guard instead of making a deep relief cut because sometimes your knuckle might be in a different place, and shooters with larger hands or fingers will still have a comfortable grip. That and shave down the finger ridges on the grip. Glock perfection takes a little work. :D

Hi Jesse. I really dig the educational aspect of your videos. You use correct nomenclature and explain things really well. You have an excellent knack for this. Just do us one favor though. When you're clearing the guns at the beginning of your videos with the multiple racks, you may as well run the slide it's full distance because if there were anything left in the chamber you'd still bang off a round with the short-stroke technique you're using because any extracted round never makes it far enough back to hit the ejector. Or just be good with the proper chamber check you're doing before all the short racking. Again, thanks for your videos. I've been a Glock shooter since 1991 and a Glock armorer since 1996. You do help make some modifications a breeze with the way you teach.

It isn't necessary to remove the material up into the guard. Just removing the sharp edge on the corner inwards some has about the same effect. Removing that much on the guard would not be comfortable for some. Also I remove the sharp corner off of the forward finger rest so the finger is much more comfortable. I discovered this years ago after firing off a few hundreds rounds one evening. I use a very sharp small 5/16th chisel to push cut it out then sand it smooth. I thought my idea was exclusive. Ha- I was wrong.

This video was 8 yrs ago, I've done this mod on my Glock 26 and 17. I just got a Glock 19 and am going to do the same thing to it. I'm right handed, so I do mine with an angel from the right, tapering to the left leaving as much material as possible but still giving me the relief. My Question is, "Why" hasn't "Glock" recognized and addressed this issue?
@elrico1364
@elrico1364 6 жыл бұрын
one very important mod is to radius the forward part of the trigger guard... that is the vertical piece, on the inside part of the guard.... where the tip of your finger touches... hits... is blocked if you need fast access to the trigger. it should be melted and relieved just a bit or more so your trigger finger slips right by it without a sudden hangup ... albeit however brief that may be.. it is still one more second you lose when attempting to quickly find the trigger.

I find it odd that they always must show a safety check... why not just state that the gun was already checked ? Plus, its a video, you watching audience is in NO DANGER ! I know its good form to always do a safety check, but totally unnecessary when shooting a video such as this..

swish1onu Go ahead, Do not unload, Do not show clear. We will then read how you made a firearm video and Negligently shot your neighbor. Its all good though you are on that side of the camera. No disrespect, if we are Responsible owners of firearms, We WILL always practice, demonstrate the proper way. Teach SAFETY, Show SAFETY. I apologize If it came out rude. It really seems stupid to me to, then I thought about it.
@swish1onu
@swish1onu 9 жыл бұрын
Frankline Holt "do not unload" ... huh? really? Now your making assumptions about the point i was trying to make. My point is that you could just as easily do your own safety check "off camera" and simply state that the gun was already safety checked... I never suggested safety checking was pointless... I'll refrain from delving into your lack of reading comprehension... I've seen plenty of videos where they do exactly that, the reviewer simply states "all firearms have been safety checked" ... and continue with the review... Now in a case where the gun is being shot, obviously showing the safety check in the video is absolutely essential. You should lay off the sarcasm, and maybe really think before you speak.

Frankline Holt re-read my original post... I DID say that.. in pretty clear ENGLISH... i say "why not just state that the gun was already safety checked" ... but whatever, I stand by what I say, theres NO NEED to visually show you've safety checked a weapon in a video, unless your actually shooting your firearm or demonstrating something where the safety check is an integral part of the video. Otherwise, whats the point? just tell me you've done it, or not at all...

I don't understand why this is such an issue for you... I think its important that people show safety checks during videos. It shows and reminds people that it is important to do safety checks... You have to remember that not all people may think of what we consider common sense things like that.

I'm sure that Glocks are over engineered to withstand use and abuse. So I wonder if this mod would compromise the integrity of the frame in any way. It would be interesting to see if there are any long term effects on that area of the frame like a crack. I own a G19 and do also suffer from the same illness, and I've thought of this mod too, but I haven't had the guts to do it just because of that. I'd appreciate it if you could make follow up vids as time goes by. Thank you for your video, it is very informative.

It's still holding up very well and I have been particularly tough on this G22 as part of product testing. Right after this was first done I stood on the trigger guard thinking it would most likely break (figured it was all or nothing, right?) but to my surprise it done fine. It really and truly is surprising just how strong the Glock polymer really is. I don't really foresee any issues with the trigger guard. I am extremely pleased with how it feels and how it's held up. Holding/shooting Glocks without that high of a cut now just feels like their mold was off and added to much plastic to the trigger guard area. Also it's not quite as thin as what it looks on camera. I'm not sure what the deal is but there is more material there than what it looks like in the video and pictures.

+Brewtus Maximus The "multiple rack practice" have multiple motivations... Some time you can have some "very used cased" and those (append rarely but append) can slip from the extractor... A more common motivation to "multiple rack" is "when you are tired" (maybe after a class, where you did shoot 500 rounds); multiple rack is a good way to "find out that you forgot to extract the magazine"... In this video probably was "unnecessary" but it is a really good habit

IMHO at most you should have only removed the "web" between the grip and trigger guard continuing the rear radius to the grip, and NOT dug into that trigger guard thickness. I would have been pretty irritated with a gunsmith who returned my kit looking like that. I EDC a G30, a Gen4 G19, and also have a Gen3 G19, I've never felt the need to remove any material from the frame on any of them, but if you're happy I'm happy.

I swap between a G30 and a G19.4 for EDC, and now have a G43 as a BUG and sometimes just pocket carry only that while in shorts and a T-shirt. The G19.3 is primarily for my wife's use. The G19.4 has adjustable backstraps that allow me to make the pistol grip about the same size as my G30 so it fits my hand better. The G19.3 is a fine pistol, but I have to really make sure it's aligned in my grip properly because it's smaller in my hand, and doesn't line up as natural as my G30 and G19.4

Regardless of the time and effort you took in doing the video, and the idea being sound. I have never felt in the 30 years of carrying a glock 'a dozen or so different 9 , 40 and 45 cal", that any such mods are necessary or helpful. in any way, vs the discarding of the warrantee, for the everyday use of said gun. The bad here outweighs the good. Guns break, and even Glocks have problems on rare occasion, and the idea that taking a few hundredths of an inch from the trigger guard, would in any way make the gun more accurate is bizarre. May I suggest a side by side comparison done by yourself and any other shooter, using one gun that you modified, and the stock gun from the factory. Then we can judge if this is indeed a good enough reason to void the warrantee on the weapon. I am sure it will prove that this is indeed not a good idea. And that these needless "mods" are just a waste of money and time in the search for an excuse for less than perfect results which every gun experiences. I especially take offense to companies like Robar who charge over 2 thousand dollars for a package, "not including the gun" that makes the Glock into some imaginary super gun.If you were going to spent 3 grand on a gun, then just buy a semi- custom made gun from one of the better smiths out there.Like Wilson, or Ed Brown, a plastic gun is going to always be imperfect due to too many laws of physics to list here. A steel gun made with hand fitted tolerances is always going to b more accurate, just because steel does not flex like plastic.

I've shot with mod. to trigger guard (g32) and without (g32) and I can tell you the difference is A LOT. Better with. Not necessarily for accuracy, but definitely for comfort.

How did you get that nice sheen to it after you were done?
@Fugettaboutit
@Fugettaboutit 9 жыл бұрын
Justin Gor If you're referring to the polymer after ground away, smoothing out with very fine sandpaper and then maybe even emory cloth, then probably some metal/plastic polishing compound and some good cloth rubbing to finish.

+Skinny Arms That "garbage flat matte finish" is really only a coating. I remove it with Flitz and a paper towel. In the process, you will also remove the many scratches you acquired. The result is a slightly shiny (not overly so) smooth surface. I've done it to three gen3 Glocks and I think the Flitz job GREATLY improved their appearance. Also, they are no longer extremely easy to scratch.

What the hell is Flitz? Also where do you buy it. Thinking I wanna try it.

Question: I have a gen 4 21 in FDE. Would there be a problem with discoloration when dremeling? Or do I just keep the RPM's low enough to just remove some plastic.

I would not do this on a gen 4 due to, with a higher grip purchase you will not have to worry about recoil management anymore, now you will probably have mag release management lol guys just lightly trim down the area that actually make contact with the knuckle's bone of your middle finger and or maybe reduce finger grooves if it's really that unbearable but otherwise leave it as is and just suck it up butter cup! Guns aren't suppose to be comfortable to hold, they just need to work when needed!
@grady7443
@grady7443 7 жыл бұрын
haha, your thinking to much. Recoil management vs. mag release management. On my g32 it makes all the difference in the world. For comfort not necessarily accuracy. and no mag release management problem.

So, I tried this on my Glock 26 Gen5 and boy!, Let me tell ya!..... I'm holding YOU responsible for the damage you caused my Glock bubba boi. So I'll go ahead and send you my local gun shop address so you know where to ship my new Glock 26 gen5 to. Next time to save yourself a bunch of dollars & lawsuits...you ought to put a caution statement prior to indoctrinating people on how to screw their weapon up!...... And if you've made it this far reading.... congratulations, you've been had. I did NOT in fact, screw my weapon up... It has never looked better.... And actually I INVENTED this Glock modification (as well as numerous others) as a matter of fact, YOU'RE WELCOME. ANYWAYS boys,....mod-on boys, keep the modifications coming and stay frosty my friends! #Glockon #Glock #Gen5 #Perfection #EDC #Glock26Gen5 #Glock45Gen5 #Stipplejob #Stippling #GlockMods #Trumpisstillyourdaddy #Trump2024 #hewillbeback 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🎯🎯🎯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💣💣💣💥💥💥

Damn you just ruined your frame bro. Went up too high on the trigger guard. Your not supposed to go up..just across. Now you have a guard thats not allowing your hand to grip properly and it will break. Smh. You didnt take into account frame flex when shooting..this will break just from shooting it.
