DIY Headboard (I finally made it!) | Home Made Happy - Ep. 9

Hiya friends! We know how much of a feat it was for me to start making my DIY bed frame, but 2 weeks ago I did it! And now this week is all about my next challenge - my headboard! I wanted to make a diy upholstered headboard that was a statement, beautifully designed, and made from scratch. This diy headboard spans wide enough to go behind the bedside tables and is a super clean and minimal, but (somehow at the same time) super unique and aesthetically pleasing (if I do say so myself... As the daughter of a contractor who spent most of my life doing reno and building whatever was needed I must say you did an absolutely SPECTACULAR job! When doing upholstery, if you place a layer of quilt batting from the fabric store between the foam and fabric it smoothes everything.

You’re so right, it looks super high-end. I’m definitely doing this perhaps in a different color :) What I like about your videos is that your DIYs are things that you will use in your own home, unlike other KZfaqrs who do DIYs just for content and then dump them somewhere to never see the light of day. I think that is so wasteful. I will most definitely subscribe!

Your "pretend contractor" is so handsome & looks like a model!! Reminds me of my hubby!! My hubby helps me when I'm wondering around Home Depot !! I'm looking forward ro recreating this headboard. We are moving and I want to change our bed but I'm not into the prices I've seen for the modern clean style I prefer. But u did it Dahlia!! U did it!! When you did that corner you could have cut it like fringe just a little way from the board and worked it around that corner. Much like we do in sewing. No extra piece needed.

Excellent! You're the only interior design specific KZfaqr I follow that I feel creates their own designs. You’ve have done and excellent job . Keep on building and make your ideas come to life . Love your beams by the way. The more you do projects involving upholstery , you will become an expert. I was your age when I started to upholstering chairs and other furniture pieces. Back in the day, lol, I used books to find out new techniques . But I have embraced KZfaq and have learned so much from all my favourite content creators, you included. When you left your dinning table behind I felt like crying for you . It was such a beautiful table and you put a lot of love into it . Just want to say , keep up what you’re doing . I’ll be watching with a smile. Now I'm going to build mine too ❤️ moving into a new apt with nothing but a bed and a few odds n ends. Lost it all in a bad storage shed and I gotta start over pretty much ahhhh but it'll be so much fun. It's like a redo always wanted to do that. To a point 😆
