A sprayer and 1 box of baking soda works! Kills dandelion over night, spay at the base. Moss dead overnight! Creeping Charlie requires a few sprays but turns black and dries up and dies.

In a pot on the stove dilute the salt first so that it's all broken down because it won't break down in the vinegar. Then once it's all diluted add it to the vinegar then add your soap. I boiled it on high with about a cup of water and a cup of salt. Just use regular table salt .

You don’t even need salt. I have no clue why you guys think adding a little bit of salt to water or vinegar would do anything to weeds. You’re making a simple vinegar weed killer much more difficult than it needs to be. This isn’t some new idea that either one of you guys recently discovered how to create yourself.

The salt is completely not needed and just a waste. Same with the soap, but it can help the vinegar sit. The only ingredient you need in this recipe is the vinegar and it may or may not work depending on the weed.

I hosted a crawfish boil recently and when I was done, I tossed the brime into my yard thinking nothing of it. The next day, I had a big spot of dead grass. So you most definitely need the salt
@kimpfennig
@kimpfennig 3 ай бұрын
You need the salt because that's what gets down to the roots and kills the roots in the soil. The vinegar and the dish soap are going to kill the leaves and the weeds that are sticking up from the ground but what you want to do is get to the root of the problem and that is what the salt does. Also you want a higher acidity concentration with the vinegar so what you want to do is look for Horticultural vinegar. You can sometimes find it at a Feed and Tack store, I found mine at Lowe's and sometimes Walmart has it as well. I used this a few days ago and it worked like a charm.

Yes, it will kill the grass. I used this the other day on some weeds growing in the cracks of my driveway as well as some areas around my yard where it's mostly Clover grass and various weeds. A tip I would share is to apply this mixture when it's warm not too hot. So I applied mine earlier in the morning so by the time the sun would hit the area it would be nice and saturated. It worked amazing. The salt goes down and dries out the roots which makes it easier to pull the weeds out and it kills the weeds. The vinegar causes the leaves causes the leaves to shrivel up and the Dawn dish soap actually helps the concoction remain on the leaves it acts as like a binder if you will. The downside is it will kill everything it touches, so this is not a good option in flower beds or areas where it's just a few weeds that you want to tackle.

I found I had the best results if I used a Horticultural vinegar. It's a little harder to find but you want this type of vinegar because it's a higher acidity level usually anywhere from 30 to 75%. I was able to find 30% at Lowe's, relatively inexpensive. Regular distilled vinegar is only 5% acidity, so that's why I would suggest looking into a Horticultural vinegar I think you're going to have better results.

It will definitely kill regular grass as well Barbara. It will usually die within a week- 2 at the max - and once it dies, I usually give it another shot once a month. Be sure not to use it near garden plants ok , as it will kill that too. Where it works really well are the cracks between stones or cement - that’s where I use it. The only drawback is if you have thick grass, it may take a whole lot of weed killer to get the job done. Thick grass is terrible. Have a great night Barbara 😊
