What size pattern did you order? Does the pattern come with the back pocket and wrist gussets? I like the blanket pattern. Was that a military blanket?

Great job to your wife. Thank you for sharing the exact pattern. I’m going to tackle one this summer. Can you please ask your wife what she lined it with? And is it fully lined? Or partially lined?
@clarklewis2 ай бұрын
It’s lined with cotton pillow ticking because that’s what she had on hand. I’d recommend some kind of slick silk-like material so it slides on and off easier. Good luck!

Your wife did a nicer job then the “professional” items I see online. I like the idea of the lining until it would get wet. It probably makes it much more comfortable though. Would she be willing to make one for sale?

I have a wool blanket and thought about making it into a wool anorak. How much would Diane charge to make it?

I love this anorak! Was the front pocket changed to a patch pocket as well?

Love it! Looking for a pattern to make some (we call them) bush shirts out of some wool blankets we have. This would have been perfect, especially with the modifications you made. Shame I can't order the pattern in Australia. :( Well done on making this! Looks great
@MariaInIowa3 жыл бұрын
Diane, where did you source 100% wool blankets for around $20? I'm finding anything in that price range is 80% wool, 20% "unspecified other fibers" - yuk. Thanks!
@clarklewis3 жыл бұрын
It was some time ago when there were a lot of US and foreign military wool blankets were readily available. Looks like that supply has dried up. They’re out there, but it’s a right place/time kinda deal. Hit up the thrift shops. The trick to proving that it’s wool is pick off some of the fuzz, roll it up in your fingers to a little cylinder. Light it with a lighter, if it won’t stay lit, it’s wool.
@clarklewis3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, 80% is fine, like the Swiss Army blankets
@MariaInIowa3 жыл бұрын
@@clarklewis Thank you. I found some ready-made anoraks very cheaply priced that are supposed to be 100% wool and am trying to figure out if I should bother custom making them, though my son in law is a bodybuilder and just having it big enough for him might be the tipping point. :)

Does your wife happen to have a channel? I would love some sewing guidance! I am in the process of sewing this pattern for my dad and it has become quite the project!
@clarklewis3 жыл бұрын
No, sorry. She’s not keen on appearing in videos. She did say she’s unlikely to ever make another because of how difficult it was, right after she finished one for herself. I reckon persistence pays off.😬. To quote Rob Schneider, “You can do it!” If you have questions, she could probably help
@86Zuke3 жыл бұрын
@@clarklewis I commend her for making another! I don't think I will ever sew again after this.. I told him it may be ugly but at least it will be warm!
