DIY: How to make a clothes rack under $20 with PVC pipe

In this video I show you how I make a simple clothes rack under $20 including tax! All the materials I got was from home depot and I even cut the material there.
This is an easy project that can help you organize your clothes if you don't have a closet. Alternatively you can use 4 elbows instead of the caps but the cost will increase. If you have any questions just comment below.

I did it!!! Thank you for the measurements. It made the process easy. The measurements are exact. I paid a little over $15.00 at Home Depot. Thank you again

Thank you! Great idea and it works well. I built (2) of them in less than 10 minutes each. As of April 2023 the cost of materials at Home Depot to build these is $36.41 each. I also purchased a PVC ratchet cutter for $13 which made cutting clean and easy. Also, you can build (1) unit using 2-10' sections of 1" PVC with no waste of materials.

Just made two of these, adjusted the height on one, easy to assemble. all the pieces less than $33 (May 2023 NE/TN) to put one together. Be sure to get Sch 40 Pvc thickness.

This is helping me so much! Thanks for posting it. I'm turning a utility wagon into a laundry cart. For the feet....what I need to know is what is the final measurement for the 2 9" lengths with the T joint. I need to know how to figure how much space to allot for the T joint. I hope that makes sense. Thanks

@@nikettabennett9006 I went to Lowes and two 10 ' pipe will make this. Just need you measurements of each piece and they will cut it for you at no charge. Just bring it home and put it together. I love mine. Also count the number of T',s and elbows you will need the sales people will gather up all you need for you. Takes almost no room in your car once it is cut into the pieces.

Unless you are making it for babydoll clothes or you only own 3 shirts !!!! People YOU KNOW THIS THING TIPS OVER...I EVEN PUT SAND IN LEGS AND GLUED PARTS TOGETHER ....BUT this thing doesn't hold no weight...🤐🤐🤐

Thanks for the amazing idea, my rope hanger just cut off and I have no where to hang my cloths. Am wondering though, does this design support a heavy load or just a few cloths?

Just be careful with heavy jackets. Otherwise you'd be good around 10lb. Make sure to stabilize the bottom so the rack won't fall over

Sure thing! The diameter of the PVC pipe is 1 inch diameter. The lengths used were 42 inches, 36 inches, 24 inches and 9 inches. Hope this helps.

Be mindful of the amount of weight added to the rack as the pipe will bend. Keeping this balanced was a problem as it tipped over VERY easily. I use it for air drying clothes that cannot be dried in a dryer and was very hopeful for this project but it was meh... this project NOT $20 BTW

@@albosang8452 Where on the base? The joints will not tolerate being picked up if I do that. I wanted something I can move as my garage is full and constantly changing with two vehicles and 2 teenagers that play sports. With he cost of a bag of cement I might as well buy one.

Amy G. Dala the more nearer to the ground better will be the balance Otherwise try inserting some heavy metal rod that can be removed.... Will help a little. . Or something heavy that can be taken out and reinserted..
