We have found that many people ask a lot of the same questions on social media in regards to making bath bombs and issues that they have. We wanted to put together a video showing how to make easy, great looking bath bombs!
We have a written blog on our website with photos as well!
cadamolds.com/blogs/bath-bomb...
In this video we give away our recipe and show you how to use our bath bomb molds that are available on our website.
cadamolds.com
Our Recipe
6 cups Baking Soda
3 cups Citric Acid
2 Tbsp Cream of Tarter
3-4 Tbsp SLSA
4 Tbsp oil (light oil)
2 Tbsp Polysorbate 80
2 Tbsp Fragrance Oil (check safety guidelines for your FO)
Water as binder (in the video we are using witch hazel but found they are less crumbly and harder with water as your binder)
Thank you for watching and please subscribe and share for more videos like this one.

@CadaMolds
@CadaMolds 4 жыл бұрын
@@FrankieBelmainorganicrime Thank you! When they break in half that is usually a sign that the mix is too wet. Bath bombs are stubborn and the mix can be too dry or too wet and finding that sweet spot is sometimes a challenge. Another thing to keep in mind is your climate can play a role in how the bath bombs turn out as well. Keep at it, you will find that sweet spot!

I love your molds, I didn’t have to change any of my recipes. I live in a humid climate (Seattle wa)and only use water now BUT.. it’s a process lol. I use water soluble colors (eazy colors) and mix a very sm amount of powder like a micro scoop to tsp water, stir, then mix in just my BS. I let it dry 24 hrs min. I buy the shoe totes that have lids at the dollar store and fill with pre colored fda colored BS so it’s all ready to go and I can change the shade on any of the colors during making the bombs. Such as using blue1 and red33 will give me purple. Hope that makes sense lol. I use butters in one of my recipes and the water still makes them hard as a rock and no COT. Amazing work on these molds, I’m looking forward to my 2nd order on the way.

Yes, 2Tbsp. Yes I have and we choose to omit it. Epsom salt draws moisture and in such small quantities in a bath bomb it serves no purpose. You can add ES to this recipe though :) 1/4c ES would work for this size batch

Your bath bombs are beautiful and I’ve been looking for the perfect recipe and so far mines come out just ok but I have never used some of the products you use. What exactly is the polysorbate for and cream of tartar?
@CadaMolds
@CadaMolds 5 жыл бұрын
Polysorbate 80 is used to disperse the oils evenly in the water so the tub is not slippery and if you’re using lakes or micas it’s to prevent the from staining the tub. Cream of tartar would be used to get a hard bath bomb.

We used water as our binder and it activated. Not sure if it's because we should have used distilled water? I don't know if that makes a difference or not. But they molded well but as they sat to dry , they activated. So maybe the witch hazel. I agree that the alcohol can make it dry but wonder if a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water? Was so hoping that using water for a binder would work.

May I use Corn Starch if I don't have Cream of Tartar? Or what do you recommend as a substitute? 🌹
@CadaMolds
@CadaMolds 4 жыл бұрын
Cream of Tarter is used to make the bath bombs harder. Corn starch wouldn’t work as replacement. You would use Kaolin Clay as a substitute.

Wow, I can't believe I just now found your video! I am always looking for a really good BB recipe, this looks great. I NEVER use water as a binder since it activates the citric acid and SLSA. However I too have had great luck with Witch Hazel, it seems to be the perfect wetting agent that doesn't activate. Am excited to try your bath bomb molds too! Thank you so much for sharing, this was very generous of you! :-)

If I don’t use the 2 tablespoons Polysorbate 80 would I increase the light oil by 2 tablespoons and the same thing if I’m not using fragrance oil?
@CadaMolds
@CadaMolds 4 жыл бұрын
If you’re using a lake or mica to color the bath bomb you’ll want to use poly 80. As the colors will stain the person and tub. Also the oils will not disperse in the water without it so you’ll feel oily.

Hi Gumdrop Kitten! Red turkey oil is the natural replacement for polysorbate 80. Red turkey oil is made with sulfuric acid and castor oil.

As my love if suds said, it helps disperses colorant and prevents staining of the tub when micas are used. It also helps disperse the oils. Thank you My Love of Suds!! 😁❤️

Hi! I've been recently trying out your recipe and for some reason I can't get mine to stick together. Any tips? They're soft/squishy once I take them out of the mold and then the 2 halves separate over time while drying.

Hi Hailey! From the sounds of it your mix is way too wet. Sounds like it might be too much binder.

Hi there, I hope you can give me some advice. Iwas wondering if you could tell me if this recipe is suitable for very high humidity. We are in a very wet, hot tropical climate on the south-east coast of South Africa and I live 5 minutes away from the ocean. My bath bombs are always prematurely fizzing in the mixing bowl or getting softer instead of harder. There are 3 things I would like your advice on - If I used Cocoa butter instead of the light oil - will they harden faster and stop them from fizzing out before they can even reach the mould. Can I use 91% rubbing alcohol instead of witch hazel/water as I feel that it might be the water that is setting off the reaction on mine together with the extreme humidity? Can I use Tapioca Flour in place of SLSA, I dont need these bombs to foam - just want them to fizz. I will be grateful for any help from you or anyone else commenting on this thread.

How long do you leave these to dry? I tried this recipe and after two days they were still fairly soft. My normal recipe gets really hard but I use butters in that one and it doesn't have slsa. Thanks

My bombs are dry in a few hours. They are rock hard in 24 hours. Like I can throw them on the floor and they won’t break.
