👍thank you, good info. So that’s why our soy candles don’t give off much scent. We need to burn them hotter with dif wicks. We make them just for us & we burn them only in the kitchen sink for safety. We’ve reheated the leftover wax so many times it gets dirty looking so we add a few coffee beans & it looks like it’s on purpose plus smells good.

I am wanting to start my own candle making business and am about to order different wicks to test with my GB 464 Soy Wax in 8oz apothecary jars all from Candle Science. I do have a question though - When testing out different wicks in the same size jar with the same wax, will different fragrances & liquid dyes change the way the candle burns? Thank you for this video. I'm new to working with wax and I suck at it so far. I'm working with the GB 416 wax, because I'm making melts. Everything you don't want to happen has been happening. The hot throw is almost nonexistent, the tops are lumpy, it frosts horribly and it doesn't release from the clamshells without a struggle. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm adding my fragrance (10%) at about 183, stirring for 2 or 3 minutes and pouring between 135 and 165. I started pouring at 145 and I've adjusted up and down trying to find the right temp.My room temperature is always right around 72ish. I want so badly to figure this out, but man its a lot harder than I anticipated. Also I had no clue about the fragrance oil eating through things. I measured out and separated my oil into small dixie cups earlier and within just a couple minutes it was all over my counter. I was so confused, lol.

This video was so great! Thanks for all the tips. I am new to candle making, and I cant seem to get my soy candles to have any hot throw! I have been using C-3 soy wax from the flaming candle company which seems to handle great. I also have been using fragrance oils from new directions aromatics, which say they are good for candle use but don''t say soy specifically. I am unsure if it is the fragrance oil I am using or if I am not using the right ratio, I was wondering what your wax to fragrance ratio is typically, and if you have any tips for me?Thanks so so much in advance!!!

Hey thanks so much for this informative and super helpful video! I had a question for you, with the ones that you used with the wood wick, did you find it burned well? My father recently passed and I am making candles for my family to burn in his memory. I want them to burn beautifully, and he used to buy woodwick candles so this is exactly what I’m hoping to recreate. Would love to hear how it worked for you (or anyone in the comments!). I'm just getting into candle making and I have the actual making process down to the T. It's the scents. I started with essential oils aromatherapy (BIG MISTAKE) I brought some strong scents which left my sinuses all messed up making my room feel stuffy as I couldn't breathe. I'm about to switch over to regular fragrance with a more softer smell.

Hi Jeff, thank you so much for your videos, they are great! I have a question, I am testing my jars to see how much exactly wax & FO to put in each jar. I did all the formula, and I came out for a 6 oz jar that hols 5.8oz of wax with 10%FO=15 gr of FO and 158gr of wax, but the jar doesn't get full. So, I keep trying to add a little bit of wax and now I just did 160 gr of wax but still not full at the line. What should I do? I am using the same jar you have in the video with the wooden wick ( I think it's the same, Candlescience,Medium Straight Jar. Thank you!!

Thanks for the great video. This is the best one I've seen. I want to try that wax now. I use a eco soy wax and that makes so much sense that adding the fragrance when it's too hot will burn it off. Can you recommend a pine scent? I tried making a candle with pine essential oil and even though I put a ton in the smell was extremely weak.
@StandleyHandcrafted

Kimberly and Emylia 464 is a great wax. I’d go for the blue spruce or the fit scent from Candle a Science, they’re really nice and strong. You’ll never get super strong smelling candles from essential oils, they just don’t throw as strong as fragrance oils. 🙂

Hi, your videos are so informative Does it matter if you add your fragrances at a low temperature? Lets say at 130f? Will the fragrance blend in well with the wax? Also whenever i have made soy wax candles When they burn for 3 hours, the wax has all become liquidy and it doesnt really look nice when its in a clear jar. Is this supposed to happen with soy wax?

Hi, I have a quick question! I have watched most of your videos on different wax’s you have used and your reviews. You were right about the 100% soy wax. I have spent a lot of money and can’t see much progress in terms of hot throw. Since I live in England it difficult to get hold of paraffin coconut blend. The only ones that are available are 100% soy, soy coconut blend and soy paraffin blend. Which one can I use for best hot throw?

Hi! Can this be done with silicone moulds? I’m planning of selling some on Etsy with fun little shapes. And also, can you put the wax in a plastic measuring container to melt it? Thanks!

Out of all the parasoy waxes you have used this far, which one seems to give off the best hot throw in your trials? I would like to use straight soy wax but they seem to melt a bit while out at farmers markets in the southern heat. The parasoy was a good compromise for me.

FO is better to use than EO when making soy candles? I'm new to this and I'm looking to start making my own candles. Your videos are awesome btw
Do you need to cure your soy candles? Is it BS or not?
