DIY Jeep TJ Overland Storage & Gear Setup

4 жыл бұрынHere's my answer to a question I've constantly been asked - How do I fit all my overlanding gear in my TJ? In this episode, I'll dive into all of the gear I use camping and on the trail as well as explore my DIY rear shelf setup I use for storage in the back of the Jeep. While this setup may not be perfect for everyone, it's been awesome for me and my adventures on the trail.
I hope this provides some inspiration to get out there and build your own, and again, its TOO EASY.

I follow quite a few off-road channels and enjoy most of them. One thing I really appreciate about what yours is the fact that you have some amazing stuff and its usually the cheaper Walmart or off-brand gear. So many of the other channels really push the big names that super expensive. And I definitely know that sometimes you get what you pay for but there is so much that you can get that works great and it's from Walmart or something. Anyway, thanks for not just pushing the big names! I definitely appreciate it.

Great, useful ideas for 2 door Jeep owners (and camping enthusiast). I really like that you keep it low key, no crazy expensive fridge, sliders, scottle and other specialized "overlanding must haves" you see now days. Keep up the great work!

Awesome build !!! I built a wooden platform and draw storage for my JK but have since removed it and I'm going to replace it with an extruded aluminium rack. I used a cooler last trip I was on and the ice sloshing around drove me insane so I bought an electric fridge/freezer off of Amazon. I haven't been able to use it yet on a trip but it's been plugged in for a couple of months in the house and it's kept water frozen the whole time. I love to see what other people have done !!!

That Colman stove top is pure gold! Plus great budget bin tip with those rigid bins. I believe there may even a wheeled dolly they can attach to. If you have them really loaded up with a lot of weight.

@@ArkansasOffroad I literally just looked a few days ago at an LJ, it was a little rough but priced right. Been my dream rig for a long time. After test driving, it just didn't feel right getting my own project that wouldn't be able to bring the family in (at least for any adventure very far from home). Going to look at a Tundra tomorrow instead 😂 Nice for comfort on the long hauls, reliability, and a bed. I'll just have to get used to trail rash with the full sized lol. They change you (kids) - but a jeep is still very much in our future, my wife will make sure of that she loved my previous JKUR 😁

One thing I learned quickly when I first got into camping. You do not need the best or most expensive items. Take more knowledge with you then expensive gear. You would be surprised with what you are able to do with cheaper items and modifications you can do yourself. The money you save can go into your gas tank and put more beer into the cooler. Also, Walmart is a great place to get many many items.

really like the removable shelf setup, i'd never mangle my vehicle bolting in permanents and the tie down keeps it in place so perfect , for sway delete - wouldn't be surprised if driven in nice orderly fashion its not noticeable, however high speed figure 8 on off ramps and emergency braking might be totally different experience especially with tent on top - do you have new coils on or HD versions (OME) that might be negating for time being the shift of weight ?, sometimes I am to lazy to reconnect my YJ's on way home from trail and sway is noticeable but easily ignored , i'd consider an antirock if disco/reconnect an issue but never remove it for onroad from either YJ or especially TJ.

Rubber mat in the stove .... Genius! One item serves two purposes, non-slip mat for stove on table and noise reduction of grate in stove.

New to the channel, where are your wrenches? sockets? recovery gear? Saw? Water? Air compressor? My TJ doesn't have room for all of the stuff I "Need".

my front swaybars popped out on their own when I flexed it the woods one time years ago left them as is did not notice any difference. if you are driving on the road where you are engaging the swaybar you are doomed to roll bar or no bar

Awesome job! What rack System do you have in order to mount the roof top tent? How many lbs is it rated for, and did you have to drill into roof for mounts.

Funny. I do offshore islands without combustion engine use. By boat or piloting my board using Liquid Force products . The board is faster and can fly over other boats, land, etc. My pull has been used to sleep upon while afloat because it is inflated. It can also pull my boat but I don't like to fly my skiff. People think it might fall on them. It must be nice not flying your jeep and making people below nervous.
