Notes on Ribbon Notebook
-Adapt instructions for A4 paper
-Virtually all letter size and A4 paper is long grain unless you cut down from a larger sheet, so folding it lengthwise (hot dog style) is with the grain direction. For a single signature notebook, it's fine if you fold across the grain (not following the grain direction) esp if you want to make a larger notebook.
-Hollow hole punch is also known as a leather hole punch or hammer hole punch
-Ribbons are 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) wide and 100% polyester purchased from Michaels
-Corner rounder is from Amazon, craft stores sell them as well. I rounded the corners 1-3 sheets at a time.
-Notebooks have 20 pages total
Notes on Botanical Sketchbook
-Decorative paper book is from here: www.deserres.ca/products/gift...
-You can also find lokta paper as decorative paper
-Adapt instructions for A4 paper (210 x 210 mm square), 4 main sewing holes should be 42 mm apart
-Paper grain is important here since there is no hinge on the cover and it needs to be folded to open the book
-Be sure to use a bookbinder's awl with an even, non-tapered needle to pierce the holes
-To make a thicker book, drill the holes or use a screw punch. Use more clips to prevent the papers from slipping.
-Check the beading section in the craft store for waxed thread
Notes on Heartfelt Journal
-Craft felt is from Michaels - the outer felt is slightly thicker than the inner felt
-11 x 17 paper would be the equivalent to A3 paper. It is long grain and when cut in half, the 8.5 x 11 sheets (equivalent to A4) become short grain. The grain is parallel to the spine when folding signatures. It's fine if you only have long-grain, regular letter or A4 size paper.
-Blanket stitch is used for the cover edges
-Chain stitch is used to embroider the heart
-If I could redo this, I would adjust my spine measurements to 3/4 inch (19mm) from the head and tail (top and bottom) so the outer holes in the signatures aren't so close to the edges. Measure 5 or 7 evenly spaced holes between the outer holes for a total of 7 or 9 holes. The stitching style is designed for an odd number of holes.
-Check the beading section in the craft store for waxed thread
-Journal has 96 pages total
