Beautiful build!! We’re in the same boat, bought an affordable bed base, but it’s so unstable! This is a great idea! And solid wood!!

Hi! I'd love to build a bed frame like this. What sort of wood(s) would you recommend for the side rails and footboard that will be sturdy enough but still cost effective? Some of the hardwoods (like oak and poplar) that came up when I did a general search were out of my budget, unfortunately.
