I never would have thought to use purple violet flowers in there but the color combination with the cabinets is genius. (I’m a color nut). Will need to file this colorway for future use.

I love that you include some "missteps" in the process, like the wrong green at first or the faucet diy mishap. It's so realistic and refreshing to see! And the end product came out beautiful

Drew, you are a Renaissance Man. The hooks and clothes rack used to paint the cabinet doors are just one example of an idea you saw and locked away in your memory to be a problem solver when you needed it. Always observing and adapting. Not something you learned out of a book. Yes, it seemed you picked the sage color and adjusted to the new shade just off the top of your head but really the selection is the result if a lifetime of noting and assessing your options. You are a learner by paying attention, who developed your own opinions and taste. Also your determination and patience are awesome. Best tutorial I have seen to teach in only a few minutes every aspect of the craft and design decision-making process. Wow. Bravo.

I agree with Drew that the backsplash isn't my cup of tea but with the new cabinet color everything looks more intentional and cohesive now in the kitchen so it works. Amazing as always Drew!

I also agreed with Drew on the backsplash, but with the light green colored cabinetry I went totally team mom on it! This combo is giving me such french country cabin vibes - especially with all the decor! 😍

The color of the cabinets goes perfectly with all the static colors in the floor/backsplash/counter. It's amazing what lighter cabinets can do to a room. Looks larger and really classy.

It's amazing how colors do wonders for a space. It automatically opened up the whole place and became inviting as opposed to drabby. I also love the fact that not all the kitchen handles were the same. Same color but not same style and it definitely makes a difference on each size piece. I'd have a different morning routine if my kitchen looked like this. Like I'd wake up so eager to go sit in my new kitchen and make a cup of coffee and just take in all the beauty my son just made for me. Love the reveal it put such a smile on my face!

Initially I thought the backsplash made the kitchen look dated. But I’m so glad you kept it. I love the rustic romantic vibe it gives, (along with the kitchen floor tiles). It makes the kitchen look unique.

The most important decorating lesson I'm taking away is that it takes the accessories to make it look great. You can't judge until then. He also has confidence in his ideas it takes to make a beautiful room.

Loved this makeover, Drew! Just a tip for using the paint sprayer - spray from a bit farther away in longer strokes. That way the paint won't go on with the splotchy texture or drips. If the paint seems a little thick for spraying thinly, add a bit of paint thinner and try a test swatch on cardboard. Also use a primer first so that it doesn't chip later!

I'm not a fan of green, but in this kitchen it ties in so well with the counter tops and back splash. The room looks so much brighter and your accessories are beautiful.

Drew, you did a wonderful job; that kitchen is stunning now. Isn't it amazing what a cabinet color can do for existing tile/flooring? That color really worked perfectly with the backsplash and flooring. So bright and fresh. It's like an updated, modern, tuscan villa now. I love it!

The paint color is perfect! It looks great with the existing tile and floors and makes the kitchen so much lighter and brighter. The lamp and chairs bring back some warmth and texture. The hardware choices and accessories are the cherry on top-magazine worthy!

Overall, LOVED this makeover. I'm probably in the minority in wishing you had gone with a different paint colour but I loved the styling, details, overall impact. SO many great kitchen accessories. Also, your parents love it so which is most important. Thanks for sharing yet another makeover!

I think the lighter color brings out the tile your mom wanted to keep. Now you can see the texture & dimension of each tile. It’s a nice balance & looks great with the decor pieces. Awesome job!

I LOVE the new color, it made the kitchen looking so much more fresh and it goes great with the rest kitchen!! And those woven accents worked so good! My only concern is about not sealing the cabinet fronts after painting, I had a nasty experience about this, I painted the kitchen using a Benjamin Moore paint without any sealer too, and after several years the paint erased in places where we touched the fronts a lot, so I would definitely seal the paint with a good polyacrylic sealer to be sure it lasts longer.

Drew! You did it again!! Absolutely love the final colour and the massive difference it’s made to your Mum ‘n Dad’s kitchen!!! It enhances the worktop and tiled areas beautifully!! Your eye for the perfect decor as usual is spot on!! It’s nice to see a kitchen being upgraded rather than ripped out and replaced, with the increasing bills we’re all facing, it shows there is a cheaper/alternative way to achieve that ‘new kitchen’ look! I’m obsessed! 😍😍😍 I love how the changes were minimal but made such a huge difference! That shade of green really enhanced the entire kitchen. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out with the backsplash but omg it turned out amazing! Everything was tied together quite beautifully! Thank you for sharing!

Love love love the color of the cabinets. I have done a lot of painting of furniture myself and the only thing I would’ve suggested you do is apply Zinzer bin primer prior to painting. I’m afraid that the paint may chip easily without having that primer underneath. Having said that, I hope your parents enjoy their renovated kitchen. You’re a such a good son for doing this for them.

I was thinking the same thing..and the fact he didn't give a god scrub down before painting either 😬 cabinets that old have so much built up grime Also don't understand going through all the work of the hooks and making unnecessary holes when he could have used painting triangles

@@sachadoucet9126 Exactly, I thought the same thing regarding hanging them for painting. I also thought about the triangles, or even using anything to prop them up. I would’ve also let them dry for a good week before putting them back. I also would’ve put some sort of protective coat on top.

Your parents are precious…your momma looks like a beautiful Barbie doll….the kitchen is GORGEOUS…You did a fantastic job…it’s so much trouble to paint cabinets…I was wondering why you didn’t use a small lamp on the countertops????It makes a place more cozy to me…maybe a whicker lamp or a pretty ceramic one….you are too adorable and I love watching you because you have such a happy soul…hugs from carolyn in Columbus ga

I know you don't care for the backsplash but it's one of the things I totally loved about the kitchen. It gives it that old Italian cottage vibe. It looks beyond stunning with the new color.

Painted cabinets give a French Country look. I love it! Kitchens are hard to do. Very comprehensive! You have wall treatment, tile, floor, cabinets, appliances, hardware............OMG! It's like you start at one place and when you make your way around, the hardware doesn't look good with stainless.... My sister-in-law had her kitchen completely remodeled, but lived with no glass in cabinet doors that were made for it, and no hardware on ANYTHING FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS! She couldn't decide. We got used to just reaching through where the glass should have been, and we looked like little mouse hands trying to get our nails in the seam so we could open a drawer.

This turned out absolutely beautiful! I didn't like the counters or the backsplash before and this completely changed it! It all goes so well together. The cabinet color is so pretty. I have to say, I originally would have agreed with your mom and gone with the bright blue because I love a bright space, but you made the right call. The color is perfect!

That green! Chef's kiss, Drew! It pulls the tones from the backslash, it's gorgeous! It's incredible how it all came together! That first green was definitely a no go. While my fave colour is blue, it definitely wouldn't have worked in your mom's kitchen.

This was interesting...great colour choice, made all the elements you had to keep, work well (altho re doing the backsplash would look really nice as the tumbled stone is quite out of date). Also making some kind of an architrave/cap over the cabinet tops would be a nice finish and raise them visually. It also looks like there is enough room to extend the island....even without changing the stone top...it could be butcherblock wood, I often see two types of surfaces joined on islands....with pillars at the new corners with a lower shelf.....Love your handle choices.

I love this kitchen! You took old and made it new again without spending much money. Now it's time for you to organize her cabinets. I would love to see a video on cabinet organization. Your parents need that for sure in their new space. :)

So surprising that the brown/beige granite tops were formally so over-shadowed by the dark cabinetry -- now they really pop and they look lovely, almost the star of the kitchen -- revealed. Good work, for sure!

Seeing Laurie’s work was a surprise. I love her she is such an amazing human being. Love the space and the choice of paint shift was so right. Can see the warmth in the second paint more than in the first one. Love those bar stools as well

I love that you kept the integrity of the space that your parents liked, and still gave it your look. I was so skeptical of the counters and backsplash but it works so well with what you did!!!

A rustic kitchen with a beautiful vibe. A place not only to kook in, but to hang around in and have nice conversations. You did good. Only one thing i would work with, and that is a small change, but i would tone down the wooden door to match the chairs. Just tint it to that golden wood look instead of that deep red wood tone. Love the green, it set the mood to homly cozy vibe. Well done!

I actually love the tile. especially the floor. it totally works in their home architecture (and Arizona) style. I'm not a fan of granite but your paint choice was perfect to tie all the existing elements together

The electric blue your mom wanted actually looks bomb, but I get it that the cabinets are not the only thing in the kitchen and it might be difficult to work around.. But dark blue and golden hardware? Bomb

Perfect color showing off that amazing backsplash, the stools and that lamp, so glad the grapes are gone, it made the space 'grow up'...now I want to paint my kitchen green, love the color...FUN...!!!

WOW! Beautiful! The final color was the right choice. It looks like a completely different kitchen! Drew is a generous son. I want to see my son so I make he and his GF dinner once a week. If I “nagged” him to visit I’d never see him!😆 He’s an electrician and I have quite a few electrical projects I’d like done and have asked him to do. I insist on paying him his stated wage. We are business owners and if we worked for every family member and friend for free we wouldn’t survive. Great work Drew…you made your mom and dad very happy!❤️

That turned out so gorgeous! It's honestly amazing how much some paint, a new lighting fixture, and some more modern hardware can completely update a space. So great for anyone who doesn't want to, or have the budget to completely rip out the old to replace with new.
