Amazing. This is called a designer or art work. How much hard work behind this , a genius mind also. Sometimes we think about a piece of work that how simple it is and it should be not that costly. But we don't realize the technicalities , brilliance & hard work behind it. That is why a designer or art work is priceless. Only the makers knew it's worth.👏👏👏

thank you for sharing your awesome projects, my nephew is 7 years old, he was so inspired. we went to Lowes. we made a Tray. it came out really nice. I was trying to find more Black Carpenters so he can see more positive Black Men, that look like him, I looked for 2hrs. nothing came up, not even your channel, I found you by accident. your channel is truly a blessing to us.

Nice project! My personal suggestion would be to change the zinc philips head bolt for a countersunk socket head bolt, ideally one that had been plated black or a raw stainless steel fastener. Most bolts I buy from suppliers come in black, so there's no need to buy silver ones and paint them, as you should be able to get a black one fairly easily. It's amazing how much cleaner exposed fasteners look when they're socket-head.... even if it does make things look like they came from IKEA lol.

Great work and project! One comment about your soldering though. At 18:35 you were "carrying" the solder to the wires, i.e. melting solder on the iron and then applying it to the wires. That's a bad technique creating cold solder joints where the solder hardens but not actually bonds to the metal of the wire. This can cause failure over time, especially when the joints are moving. try applying a bit of solder to the iron to improve contact, then apply the iron to the wires to heat them up and only then bring the solder in contact with the wire. The solder will melt around the wire and bond with it, creating a good contact joint that will last as long as the concrete base.

Looks great but you should never switch the negative wire. Always switch the positive one. At 12V it may not matter but at bigger Voltages it could be a live saver. If someone gets into the electric circuit by touching a metal part which is under power, it gives them a shock, even if the switch is turned of because the electricity flows through the body in the ground. ALWAYS SWITCH THE POSITIVE WIRE

He connected the negative at the bottom. The reason he soldered one negative at the top because the led connection at the bottom o f the most right strip was blocking the connection of negatives at the bottom. Just look at 14:05 and freeze the frame there.

Home Depot and other big box stores sell 24" x 48" diffusers with a variety of textures in clear and milky white that are normally used under fluorescent lights. They are about $10.00 and could be cut down to work and would eliminate the painting. It would add cost but give you a reason to build several more. This is a very cool design.

You're a craftsman, Glen. I learned many things from watching your video. That's awesome! I was very surprised that this project was (for the most part) completed using just hand tools! Appreciate the time, effort, and craftsmanship that went into this video!

Thanks for showing me how to add a low voltage lighting system to a wooden lamp and how to make and attach a concrete base. I am planning a similar project.

I’ve sanded Perspex and acrylic to get a frosted look, also if your good with an Angle grinder it works well for making precise cuts, just use a thin cutting disc and score the line before going all the way through, nice lamp btw

Love all your videos, I will echo Scott by saying it’s refreshing to see your mistakes as well as your victories. Love the lamp, came out beautifully.

Very nice project. I really like the attention to detail to hide the cords so well.
